Last movie you saw in cinema? Did you enjoy it?

1 Name: Anonymous 2024-04-13 22:45
For me it was DUNC 2 and I liked the 10 secs of ATJ.
Wanted to see the new Gundam Seed movie in cinema but was too late in catching it and closest cinema showing was in Leeds so cbaish.

Also are you a solo movie goer?

The last one I saw was Godzilla -1 and I really really enjoyed it

Last movie I saw in a cinema was an australian doc called 'This is going to be Big' about a bunch of neurodivergent kids putting on a play

Dune 2. I liked seeing a film that dealt with themes of telos and aristocratic machismo like it does. That's what a space opera is in my head. And obsessive detail on the mechanics and logical workings of the world. I think that might be why people like prequel star wars so much.

love lies bleeding, the first omen, and evil does not exist.
all where great. I love going to the cinema.

I don't go to the theater often so it ended up being detective pikachu cuz my mom wanted to see it. I thought it was cool but have no need to ever see it again. I had a great time with her and that's what matters in my eyes.

Spy x Family: Code White. It was underwhelming, but I want the movie theater's poster for it. Saw an ad for the Gundam Seed movie, but I don't like Gundam that much.

kingdom of the planet of the apes before i watched it i watched all the other movies of the franchise i started unknowingly with the 2001 tim burton reboot i honestly liked it and didnt understand the hate i was disappointed that there was no sequel tho after that i watched the caeser trilogy which i absolutely loved big fan than i watched all the original movies i liked the first two the most and battle (last one) the least but goddamn was the movie great i loved it was worth goung outside for it was worth going to the cinema for great visuals and acting im just unsure about how it will go on it seems like they wanna make more parts but i feel like it had a very good conclusion after war for the planet of the apes

haikyuu. it was decent. definitely nothing like the show tho. focus on kenma ultimately the right decision to make it understandable as a stand alone piece to the soccer moms bringing the kids who were hyped for it.
before that was duncII. dem harkonnens got style if nothing else.

I watched "Ends Beginning", an obscure film with 2 actors and one cameraman set in Lapland during WW3. One of the actors is the director. And the other is his girlfriend. The movie was enjoyable, it had good scenery. I enjoyed it, but I enjoy almost everything.

The Barbie movie. It was good and fun.
15 Name: Anonymous 2024-07-15 13:52
The Hunger Games: TBOSAS was good

I literally do not remember. I haven't been in a cinema in over 10 years.

that new guardians of the galaxy and Oppenheimer (this one was technically not at the cinema)

Depends on what you consider 'worth watching', it's not the Godfather but it's less dumb than the rest of the marvel crap

i saw the tv glow - had no idea what it was before going in but definitely cried and felt a lot. heard some ppl didn't like it (or i suppose didn't get it) and that's fair too

The king, a movie about Henry V of england from Netflix. it's one of Netflix movie that doesn't sucks. and in fact it's the most historically accurate movie I've seen about middle age.

furiosa: a mad max saga, didnt think that it was as good as like the road warrior or fury road but it was still pretty good.

I got to see Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (the 4th one) a few weeks ago (on Friday the 13th!). "Final Chapter" my ass.
I have no idea why they didn't run the first or second movie at the theater that day. It's really not a particularly good movie at, but it is also very entertaining. It's a junk-food for the mind flick with lots of entertainingly sexy and violent bits.
Those poor horny teens...

>>22
Honestly, you nailed it.
It's definitely not as good as it could or should have been, but it's definitely also very good.
I really wish this movie came out ages ago too, the gap absolutely seemed to screw over its box-office numbers.

Uhhhh... Hmmm...

I think it's Star Trek: First Contact

was it really that long ago since you've been to the movies, or did they re-run it at your local cinema?

lawrence of arabia. Best movie ever prove me wrong.

Saw two movies recently in cinemas, transformers one and interstellar (10th anniversary).
Both where great, transformers one was surprisingly good and the only decent transformer movie I've watched and interstellar was as good as I remember but some of the stuff at the end was still weird.

I would definitely recommended watching transformers one at some point it's definitely gonna be a movie that's slept on.

Oh misread the title lol. I've watched Star Trek: First Contact on my tv.

I've watched The Hunger Games: The ballad of songbirds and snakes in the cinema.

got to see Godzilla Minus One in theater recently, they were running it as a special that day
really good movie and I'm super glad I got to see it in theater, even if I'm almost a year late

similar to the last guy but Shin Godzilla Orthochromatic. I don't think it really needed to be in black and white, but it's still a great movie no matter what and I soypogged hard when they played the classic godzilla music at some points. hope it gets a digital release one day.

i don't usually go to a physical location to watch movies so the last one i saw in theaters was the second Spiderverse. it was good, makes me wish i didn't live in a one theater town though, i'd love to see smaller stuff on the big screen too.

i saw salo in a small cinema a few nights ago, and while it would be reductive to say i "enjoyed it", it was certainly an experience that i dont think ill ever forget.
if you think you can stomach it, watching it in a social setting that is beyond your control is an extremely intense and unusual opportunity that i can recommend to those who are open to experimentation.

Kinds of kindness. God I wanted to kill myself. I was alone and sat by chance between two men independently like me. And GOD they were so disgusting and just laughing at this film and I couldn't take it and I started shaking and crying and they started looking @ me and each other by this point as a sort of social experience and thought I'm sure they thought it was because of the film and it wasn't. I can't go back to the cinema because I said if that ever happens again I'd kill myself and I JUST KNOW it would happen firsr time and I would have to BREAK my oath. I don't remember anything about the film, stupid SLOP. Some girl danced or smth randomly. Gay and stupid.

my theatre was playing totoro. absolute all timer perfect film, of course. looked bold and lush on the big screen

I saw Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness in theatres 3 years ago.
It was shit but I didn't realize it at the time.
I was pretty distracted, desu.

There is nothing good about that movie. Nothing at all.

I got to see Nosferatu. Pretty stylish. Visibly a passion project. There were one or two scenes that were a bit dumb, but as a whole, it was very well made and very enjoyable.

Memories 1995
Screen 1 @ Prince Charles Cinema, Q12 [middle of back row], R popcorn + L Pepsi max
20250413

Memories is an anthology of 3 films and the title cards r actually the most beautiful part of the film, lol. Def improved by cinema exp 2. Honestly tho it was kinda boring. There were cool space ships, and bakas, and (japanese) African Americans which everyone laughed @ but yk it was like p/familiar. The first film was annoying in like how often it would show the Corona (which was super epic) 4 like (not even) a second and then INSTANRLTY return 2 the janky boring characters. The second film was cool, very funny, lots of awesome offices which made me wish I had an actual application 4 like walls and piles and deathtraps of paperwork or w/e. And the last film was boring as heck Maus tier GARBAGE.

I saw A Working Man a few weeks ago. The plot is there to provide a backdrop for action, and the action is good. I am immensely disappointed at how they clearly ran out of time and used the last scene to hastily clean up all the loose ends instead of giving each opponent the good 1v1 they deserved.

It delivered on what I wanted when I walked into the theater, but in a lot of ways, it's not that special either.

I saw Look Back when it was being shown in North American theaters last year. From what I remember the animation was really good and it had a cool interview with the director at the end.

I saw Sinners when it was first released. I know a lot of retards on the internet where already complaining about without having seen the damn movie, likely because of America's autistic obsession with race. Its not a white people = bad movie but basically Night of the Living dead, except set in the South with blues musicians and vampires instead of zombies. Horror movies tend to have set up filled with foreshadowing, then the cast wind up in the haunted house or the spooky hospital and that's where the real horror starts. The movie does that reasonably well and that second part not so well. Once you get to the part where the possessed vampires are attacking the jook, the pacing becomes a mess, there are nor really scary moments, and the whole thing seems confused. Basically, the movie doesn't know if it wants to be a horror film or a balls to the wall action movie, so the director half assed it and tried both. The first half, where they explore the Mississippi Delta and really set that up as a location is much stronger but flawed. Like, Michael B. Jordan's accent is really clownish. I like Delta blues and the whole history of the Mississippi Delta etc. and its nice to see it on screen anyway.

Not really a movie but I saw the Netflix American Manhunt: Osama Bin Laden. I really don't understand why they do these "American X" type titles. Bin Laden wasn't even American but whatever. The whole thing is filled with inaccuracies and blatant pro-CIA propaganda regurgitating the "they just hate our freeduhms" meme and pro-torture subliminal messaging but with cynical woke messaging. Robert O'Neill is doing his thing, taking credit for killing Bin Laden as if it takes genius level ability to shoot some unarmed guy in his pajamas. The real low blow is some scene where a CIA analyst is rambling some agitprop about how "these guys" really hate women and freedom and there's stock footage of a gay pride parade. Like yeah guys, we need torture and bombing to save the hecking gays lmao La Cia must think we are retarded, then again, most Netflix normies probably are.

star wars episode 3. people clapped and cheered at the younglings being killed. it was grim. but george lucas was cooking when he wrote "so this is how democracy dies, to thunderous applause."

kinda fucked up
like, it's funny that it happened, and I get why, but I remember enjoying episode 3 enough when I first saw it that I probably wouldn't make fun of it

also, wasn't the re-showing in theaters a few months ago, or was there a more recent one? kinda wish I went back in april

One Battle After Another
Honestly was much better than i expected it to be. Reminded me a lot of No Country for Old Men. Im guessing its the sort of movie were gonna talk about in like 10 years as being a classic.

My cinephile father took me to see this as he got free tickets to the premier. It was terrible.
66 Name: Anonymous 2025-12-17 21:43
I last saw Wicked 2. It wasn't great. It wasn't terrible. The strength are the two female leads and their complicated friendship-rivalry which is surprisingly nuanced and compelling for a kids film. The rest of the movie is weighed down by awful musical pieces, cheap effects, and uninspired set and costume design. Whenever the two leads were on the screen, I paid attention. When they weren't, I played cat's cradle with my shoe laces. What good is a musical if the songs suck?

>>65
I've often wondered if part of the bad reaction to this pretty mediocre film was because audiences found the Christian piety in it disturbing. The film's leads aren't Jesus freaks, the angry Bible thumpers get called out even. It seems secular nones find visible signs of religiosity, one that isn't a dumb caricature like gay Jesus pr0nz, as unsettling, sickening even.
67 Name: Anonymous 2025-12-17 22:43
did anyone care about wicked part 1? wicked wasn't intended for kids at least originally. the book had sexual abuse, and other "for adult" shit in it. then it was a broadway production - again not children. so if it's "nuanced and compeling for a kids film" then that is probably the whole problem with it. so removed from it's core themes it can be mistaken for what it was commentary about.
68 Name: Anonymous 2025-12-18 01:42

I’ve not seen 1 because I was turned off by the hysteria surrounding its release. From what I’m told by actual cinephiles, it was a good film and much better than 2 but had some of the same problems. It does look like they watered it down to make it family friendly.

I saw Marty Supreme. The fact that there was hype around it made me go,"Is it good, or does everyone just wanna see polygon jaw," plus I wanted to get out of the house. It's a period piece about a ping-pong athlete who is down on his luck. Funny coincidences, mayhem, and shenanigans. It was beautiful (cus i was in an actual movie theater, mid shit hit diff in public). I know he was an asshole the entire movie but he was right in some of his ways. Poverty will make you do some wild shit. Life is about making your own. And sometimes the shit you make sucks not this movie though

just saw umamusume movie. it wasnt terrible but when you condense a whole season worth of story into a movie the slice of life moments that humanize and give context to characters is the first thing on the chopping block.

I saw the Umamusume movie in theater last week. It was solid. I wasn't particularly wowed, but it wasn't bad.
