In Love & Pop the message is quite straightforward. It's what the guy who tried to rape MC told her, as well the director-person. Sleeping around for money is wrong, highschool friendship is good but fleeting so you can't totally depend on it, do something productive with your life if you don't want to be left behind. It's a coming of age story. The cool camera angles are just cool and that's fine. If you think it's deep or not, it depends on if you agree with Anno's message or not.
