completely counter to op, steam voice chat is surprisingly good and it's weird that everyone calls on discord or whatever when they're already playing a game with steam overlay enabled and could just call through steam. (this is not an endorsment of software feature creep)

you still need to pay for vc pal... with discord you can talk to little shits for free while the furrys on discord sell your information. valve does the same thing, but even worse if you hate money...

Oh no, guys - a platform where you are supposed to PURCHASE GAMES doesn't like it when I do not PURCHASE GAMES because it makes me look like a spam bot!! Whatever shall I do?????

True, to an extent, Steam killed off physical PC games which means you cannot pay for pc games in cash anonymously and it is a near monopoly. Most games on steam use some form of Drm which means that you are leasing a license for a game and do not have full ownership of it

if you don't have $5 to your name, you have bigger problems than steam

Steam getting heat for its $5 friend wall, but that’s just a symptom. The disease started when Microsoft turned the PC into a “platform” instead of a machine. Back in the PC-98 and DOS days, games didn’t need permission to exist. Developers wrote code, users ran it. Simple. Then Windows came along with DirectX, UWP and a fondness for breaking compatibility every few years. DRM, accounts, launchers all thrived in the environment Microsoft created. Steam didn’t ruin gaming. Windows made sure gaming was ready to be ruined.

Racist? I don't see that one. The problem with Steam is that its a global monopoly so you get global cultural standardization and the homogenization of all gaming. Also you don't actually own your games. You are like a peasant in India working land you don't own. In fact its worse because at least the peasant gets paid. On Steam, you are the pay pig.

I'm pretty sure the 'steam is racist' claim comes from the perception that there is a double standard between the kind of content that is permitted in Western erotic game releases and the regular banning and censoring of Japanese eroge.

I prefer steam not releasing eroge on their platform. It keeps it a fun secret the normalniggas don’t know about.

it's only a matter of time till they come for the other platforms.
denoasoft's payment processing is being audited currently and they're taking stuff down, blocking certain states.
We won't be safe until Collective Shout is destroyed.

update, itch io just shadow banned all adult content, you can only see it with a direct link.

i think steam ruined video games by normalizing they buying and selling of in-game items, in games like counterstrike and TF2. i genuinely think that fortnite lootbox microtransaction hell doesnt develop without valve allowing people to gamble for gun skins.

nah. facebook games -> mobile games are what normalized it. there weren't loot boxes in tf2 and counterstrike until sometime later.
