no one can tell you what you can and cannot do

ok, i'll use the wiki to find out what other people have found out for me such as all the optimal villager trades, as well as an optimally spaced villager trading hall, first though i need to watch the latest hermitcraft episodes from every perspective as well as the game theorys so i don't have to mine in this stupid game

villager halls and other superfarms are so soulless. the game is about building a cute house and exploring cool vistas

i used to be really autistic about command blocks when i was a kid.

i liked the horses some could go very fast

in the older versions there was something very special about how empty and lonely the singleplayer experience was. when i was a kid i had never played something so melancholy before. i think that feeling has been lost over time with newer versions of minecraft. i respect it, but it ain't what i played minecraft for

i've only played an older version for a short bit. after walking around and building a house i ended up making long cave mazes inspired by old 1st person dungeon crawler rpgs. p silly way to play the game like that tbh. still, it was a good time.

modern minecraft players grind villager trading and farms for the first 2 weeks and then wonder why they "burn out". However, it's not really their fault, it's a well known fact that players will optimize the fun out of a game if they're given the chance. I really do not like the more authored dungeon direction mojang has been taking the game. Also there are too many building blocks now, there's too much pushing you to build really complex textured structures rather than minecraft-core cobble and wood structures.

picked up minecraft again a few months ago initially excited to see all the new stuff they've added since the last time i had played and ... i really hate to be yet another boomer millennial complaining about the current state of minecraft but oh my god the vibes are so off; everything feels like its designed to look good in a screenshot or trailer, or as a bullet point in a 'new features' list instead of actually being fun to play

so next time i get the urge to play i'll probably hit 1.7.2

I've never been into Minecraft, but there was a Minecraft game that played similar to Gauntlet/Diablo that I enjoyed playing with my partner for some cool couch co-op

play vintage story instead. it understands how to make complexity and inconvenience fun.

minetest does suck as a game imo. people call minecraft digital legos to disparage it, where as calling minetest digital legos would be aspirational.

the only actual use i've ever seen for it is as an open source platform for weird experimental toys. for example someone integrated plan9's 9p protocol into it which was interesting but that's like the best mineteset ever was.

Yeah, a lot servers are a fucking mess with different textures from different mods.

Voxelibre (formerly Mineclone2) is fun to play, but why play it when you can play Minecraft tbh.

Also, when I switched from Minetest to Minecraft I could not help noticing how 'better' Minecraft felt with the gameplay.
