Which MMORPGs are you playing?

I am on Toram Online. It's the only one which looks cute enough and runs on my old thinkpad properly.
I really wanted to try out Ragnarock Online but the install file is huge and I get lag on private servers anyway.
I have also played all of f2p Old School Runescape but I feel like that game is only worth playing if you are willing to pay for a subscription but I hate paying for subscriptions. Runescape Private servers come and go so no point in grinding on them.
I hear a lot of good things about Guild Wars 2 but I can't play it on this PC.
So Toram is alright, it's a bit grindy but I can take it. The loading screens are alright since after I go to a place I just grind there. It's a lot better if you have friends to grind with but I don't know when I'll be able to play so I can't form a group.

Anyway share your own thoughts and experiences playing MMORPGs.

Scarlet Blade. I returned to it in July; I had very fond, very special memories of playing it back in 2013 but I didn't get all that far into it. I finished the main storyline (sort of), and now am just going around taking screenshots of everything to serve as memories.

Despite it being quite well-written past the story arc after which I left back a decade ago, it's still not quite on the same level and the rushed nature from budget constrains get more and more apparent as you progress. The setting and the wibe is still a 10/10, though. (Also there is lewd stuff)

Do you play on this server?
https://sb.vendettagn.com/

Also will it run on a thinkpad potato x250 with 4GB RAM?

What keeps me from getting into MMORPGs is that even older ones require 20-60GB of storage lmao. Still I might try it if it runs.

I do like endless grinding in RPGs though so I have wanted to get into an MMO properly for a long time.

Continued. Also I think it's pretty based to play a game which only exists on a private server and still gets updates.

Yeah I'm on Vendetta. Not sure about the ThinkPad potato, but the game is not graphically demanding whatsoever, it's the software compability and your internet reliability that'll more likely be an issue. It's written like ass and has Xingcode3 on top so if you're really unlucky you might get constant crashes or disconnects or even other issues.

It gets maintained, but I wouldn't say it gets updated. Other than a handful of regulars who have already maxed out all their characters to +12 for every PvP range and some casuals like me, there aren't much of an activity here, so it's honestly understandable.

I do recommend at least checking it out if you haven't before. The game is kind of a black sheep in the industry, but it was a sincere effort at an adult MMO before the all the self-playing mobile type gachashit. It's shameless, it's cheesy, but it has the self-awareness to have fun with it (but not in the irony-poisoned Marvel zoomer humor kind of way), and I respect it for that. No other MMO made me read not only the quest dialogues but also questlog flavor text and even the vendor trash flavor text.

Maybe cause I am on old hardware I didn't encounter much issues yet, except the fan being a bit too loud for my comfort. My username is Rathea. It certainly looks fun. I am not much into PVP but I'll play through the main quest since it does look interesting. The player being a "commander" kind of reminds me of the set up in gacha games except in this case I guess there's only female player character per commander. I wonder if gacha games kind of killed free to play mmorpgs. Honestly I was hoping for there to be actual porn but this is fine too. I wonder if the whole adult thing features in the plot or is just a running joke though.

The main MMO I play, Toram Online, is more like a JRPG which you can play with others to farm bosses, so Scarlet Blade feels more like a real mmo experience.

I noticed that there was an anime mmorpg private server for a game called Eden Eternal on the Vendetta sign up site. Maybe that will run on this PC too.

I'm fairly sure SB did that thing before the whole gacha craze, actually. Also the entire 2nd person perspective storytelling kind of make sense here because you control custom-made superhuman clones as characters, so it's not like in Blue Archive et al. where the game assumes you're THE sensei/summoner/whatever and other players don't really exist, you're just one Commander of the many, behind just another expendable female clone. Although, there is the Cyberblade which is a male class that was added in later because of all the moralfriend outrage but uhhh… yeah, don't play Cyberblade.

Honestly I was hoping for there to be actual porn but this is fine too. I wonder if the whole adult thing features in the plot or is just a running joke though.
The lewd stuff is mostly played for laughs, yeah, there is no actual sex in the game or anything. Get ready to take a lot of shit-talk from your Arkana though — the vibe of the game is "commanders are pervy little shits" and "arkana are sexy killer dolls to be used" and then playing with those themes. Yeah, except a handful of transhumanist philosophy on the way.

Anyway, don't forget to redeem the Starter Pack from the website, and make sure NOT TO TAKE OUT THE RINGS, cause those will start counting down and will expire before you can wear them. Also spare the green XP boosters Idel gives you for later, you'll need them. My IGN is Milline, I'm on Royal Guards side. If you're there, mail me, if not, I'll see you in the nightclub I suppose.

when does Scarlet Blade get fun? am I supposed to be getting immersed in the story? early game combat is really boring, and long runs between areas, nothing agros you so it's just filling out a check box to progress the quests...

The PvE of the game is somewhat on the weaker side, just throw all your skills at the enemy until its dead. They do start to hit pretty hard later on (with a notable spike from 40 and onwards), but yeah, not much else to it.

FFXIV I guess. Waiting for them to talk about housing in the next main patch's live letter and then I'll decide if I want to keep playing or not.

been playing guild wars reforged since it went live. it's pretty interesting the range it has. like it can feel like a highly tactical almost-turn-based squad warfare game at times, and can also feel like mindless idle game.

ESO but like everything else its slop that keeps you tethered through sunk cost fallacy

Refantazio is pretty good played the demo might buy, best introduction to shin megami tensei type games at the moment, no need to play another 30 games to understand story

Not mmorpg but pretty fun

I’d say the best I’ve played to date is black & soul, the maps are pretty thought out and don’t become a crowded mess, grafically beautiful, the gameplay is pretty fun not overly simplistic like digimon hunters and it has character creation.

I think an old one which I haven’t checked if there is still servers for is fusionfall, it’s kinda carried by its art direction, it’s what all the geeky emos played, it’s got everything Cartoon Network pre 2015 in this gritty edgy aesthetic, and the maps are stimulating not just big boxes which I’ve seen many mmorpgs suffer with.

Soulworker is like the predecessor to all the waifu slop but with the caveat that it wasn’t made entirely on the modern formula so it has a tinge of soul lolololol, but it’s a lot less stimulating visually than both the latter.
