Hey /gaming/, I’ve been thinking about some of the games that don’t get nearly as much love as they deserve. What’s the most underrated game you’ve ever played? You know, the ones that didn’t get the attention they should have, but once you gave them a chance, you were blown away by how good they are.

Could be a hidden gem from a small studio, a forgotten classic, or a game that got overshadowed by bigger releases. Drop your recommendations and maybe even why you think it got overlooked!

Space Rangers 2: Dominators.
Probably not as underrated as many others here given in Russia it's kind of a cult classic, but I'm still going to nominate it.

Was a game suggested to me by my gorgeous redhead ex-bf.

Played game for a relationship. Broke up. Didn't worked.

Same with Bioshock.

And then he dyed his hair to black.

There are a number of mostly dead arena shooters such as ratz instagib, warfork and xonotic. Arena shooters as a genre seem to have died because it's really not fun as a new player, the skill difference is amplified such that you're just going to get destroyed by experienced players over and over.

The Wastes, which started life as a Half Life 1 total conversion and got reborn as a standalone Quake 3 source port engine game

yes. peripeteia is probably the best deus ex alike to come out in ages. it's sincere and full of spirit in a way that most games are not

Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness, tons of lovingly made old school sprite works and cool mech designs that look believably engineered in their fantastic concepts. Aesthetically, a mech game hasn't quite done it for me as much as this game has.

Dungeons Of Blood And Dream
Its a nice simple game with really good art direction and its still being updated so every once in a while il open it and have some fun :)

It's not that underrated but SOMA blew my mind, the story really makes you think and it makes you question the nature of consciousness. A little more underrated is Ghost Trick, it's a VN but it has a lot of puzzles, it has a great story and fun puzzles. Something super underrated is The Legendary Starfy on the DS, played it as a kid and recently back and I loved it, the levels are great and super creative.
