2 day weekends make no sense

a free day in the week can only be enjoyable if its the only free day in the week, its like a cheatmeal its not a cheat meal if its twice a week, make the free day in the week less exclusive also makes people to take less initiative to truly celebrate or act out, a two day weekend is also a little bit misleading as retail workers dont get the day off. the two day weekend creates a more idle and undisciplined society .

a goal is focus forced into a single point, a two day weekend splits this focus into two a less impressive spread out weak view

in fact, we should have 3 days off per week. possibly wednesday as the new one. Many companies have had a lot of success with 4 day work week.

Doing work or being productive all the time works best with one day off, as employers cant control themselves to exploit employees in their efforts to chase profits I think its best to have 4 days I agree. With a more chill employment environment I stand by 1 day weekends.

You would soon learn how useless such a life is. What's the point of spilling the seed? What benefit will be gained by only consuming and not creating? Work, yes even white collar work, at least brings some meaning. That's why Plato in Plato's "Republic" mandates that an environment fit for ideal work, but not that ideal that work becomes optional, is to be created.

The idea that people would celebrate the weekend more if they had only a single day sounds like the sort of conclusion someone without direct experience with working people would come to through sheer speculation. What you find when you actually work is that 2 days isn't very long to get done all the things you want to outside of work. time spent working isn't a fun treat or reward like a cheat meal, it's a necessary condition for productivity and wellbeing. Last weekend in the UK it was a bank holiday, meaning you get effectively a 3 day weekend, and whilst I didn't benefit from this (I am not currently working) it did make a good opportunity to do stuff with friends who did get the extra day off.

It's not obvious to me that work in contemporary society does bring meaning. A lot of work can be alienating and generally shit. I think that any suggestion that we should work more will be met with disdain by many who would be asked to work more unless we change society in more wide reaching ways.

you dont need a job to have an opinion on weekends bro also i believe a 6 day workweek would make the workday shorter as companies would advocate for "more spending time" making you work less and hang out with your buddies more

you can have an opinion about anything you want but it is also possible to have uninformed or irrelevant opinions

what relevant information do i need to say i like 1 day weekends, why does communicating have to be this economic game about information and exchange worth in your eyes, have you ever considered that there's no necessary preconditions to have a conversation, whats wrong with being wrong, does everyone have to be right an informed (educated) to say anything, wouldn't that be boring and also very short

this curated, sterile form of having a conversation where everyone says the right words or tricks you into thinking they're are right by sounding very convincing or writing with authority. this is all very social media brained and I wish you a healthy recovery

I don't get this tendency from social media I get it from philosophy (people tend to interpret me as significantly more hostile than I intend on social media). I'm not sure what you think communicating is except an exchange of information . I'm not sure where I implied there are preconditions for conversation. I don't necessarily have a problem with ignorant people expressing their views, but I do think knowledge is a general good, and don't see a reason to respond uncritically. I mean the alternative for me is not expressing what I think, or expressing it in a much weaker way

is talking to your pets an exchange of information is talking to a child is talking to an old person, you are not a conversational being but an a information exchange being, who's sole purpose is to hear the right information and say the right things, call out wrong information in your righteous pursuit to keep all information correct, doesn't this sound allot like a job, you mr. philosophy are a chronic workaholic, a conversation has no point no solution no optimal way to have it and its absolutely not one person's job to "correct" or convince an another person of anything, in fact poeple hate it if you try to do it, its a bit like trying to fix their clothes or hair, everyone got their own swag for a reason maybe you should start to accept that
16 Name: Anonymous 2024-05-30 03:31
also this whole stupid conversation started with your ad hominem that I never worked a job and got vewwy tired during a weekend, which makes no sense cause this a NEET SUPREMACIST board, why would you hint at that not having a job would make me lesser,
whereas infact it would make me superior.
also why be so afraid to do the counter intuitive option of working even more, is it that unlikey that it would lead to any positive change or expose the current flawed system as a scam.

i want to maximize the enjoyment of the weekend time, therefore we should have a 365 day week and 1 of them is a weekend. if you disagree then you idle and undisciplined.
18 Name: Anonymous 2024-05-30 08:41
unironically agree with this
19 Name: Anonymous 2024-05-30 10:10
productivity would drop which is a good thing and that means what it is to work itself would have to be reinvented. the upper class would be unable to have anything over the working class anymore, causing a straightup brutal economic classwar, the schizo working class would be liberated from their cripling inferiority complex, making their class struggle legitimized and common ground
