Not looking to make a critique of the 'Give up on life' blog post, its probably not meant to be fully serious

But I was thinking about when people say things like "I'm better than this" or "you're better than this". I think when breaking it down, it's probably true that people are probably thinking of their status sometimes (like food, material goods, and social life). But I think when people challenge themselves to say "I'm better than this" a lot of the time they probably often mean they think they should just be more responsible and try harder to endure things.

I think there's other times people might say something like "I'm better than this" I think people who moved on from college, then tried a blue collar job a matter of weeks, probably sometimes say "I'm better than this", then leave to become unemployed and try to figure out what's next. So it could be narcissistic in the opposite sense -- of opposing a form of work.

I think my conclusion is that the phrase is probably always just an inane thing to say

good blog post just read it, but n0 doesnt understand that rich alcoholic housewife are the laziest poeple on earth and they do yoga all the time, because if they dont their backs will hurt and they cant tolerate discomfort, maybe the laziest player in a ranked fps game is a really good player and not the guy that dies in 5 seconds. Who is having a more comfortable time playing? its not the rank grinder, but its also definitely not the noob, "give up on life" sounds allot like choosing to stay a noob instead of biting the bullet and putting in effort, nobody grows in a vacuum

it didn't feel like anything in that blog post said anything negative about becoming competent at something. it's more about the ends of competency, and the means to becoming competent. there's a difference in becoming hypercompetent with a commadore64 and hypercompetent with typescript. the later is almost certianly doing it because perceived value in the market.
but maybe this is a misread of the post.

I liked the blog post, but I also took everything literally. Maybe I'm just too stupid to read between the lines and some more subtle message got lost on me. This post is probably one of my favorite texts I ever read, because it so closely aligns with my thoughts on life, however I'm pretty sure (like everyone else in this thread, it seems) that I misunderstood it at least partially.
