foods (or other things) you used to hate as a kid but have grown to love

it is so strange how some things that i used to think tasted awful now taste wonderful. what explains this? i used to hate mushrooms and dill pickles, now they're like crack to me.

When I was a kid, I went over to a friend's house and their mom made a "thai curry". It was the most disgusting thing I'd ever eaten. It literally tasted like vomit to me, although I was very young if I had to guess she probably used a *lot* of fish sauce, and it wasn't helped by the fact that it was loaded with undercooked broccoli which is pretty bitter.
So for years I thought I hated thai curry. Obviously one day I had the real version at a restaurant (at least the real version in so far as the westernized culinary diplomacy version if you want to be pedantic) and it was great.

I couldn't stand potato anything until I was like 15-16 or so.
Same with avocado.

I used to like it as a kid, but growing up in the fat-free era meant that my family would tell me off, so I stopped doing it for years
but fat is flavor, and we as a society are now finally healing

i still hate coffee, but not for the taste. i think the aroma of coffee is nice in desserts. what i hate about it is the fact that drinking coffee comes with a really bad down. tea and sugar are better as stimulants.

l-theanine will help with that (it's already in tea naturally)
