motivational speech is just like a motivational song.
The sound waves go unchecked directly to your amygdala, bypassing PFC.
You expirience dopamine\endorphine rise, for a while until it fades.

People getting hooked on this infotainment, becoming pay fhigz for Bonnie Robertson or Dordan Butterson. "5 second trick that will change your life", "12 more rules" . We need to distinguish real physiological & psychological motivation processes from commercialized industry. I saw a motivational speech yesterday, it motivated me to consume, it's called ads. But I want to distinguish my writing from that.

Books are lightly better, because they don't go unchecked as audiowaves (unless podcasts) to subconsiousness, and they require time to process, analyze, habit\schedule\ritual of reading book daily\weekly. But they are not the panacea.

What matters & solves issues above, might be enriched environment (workplace?), that helps you accomplish your goals & targets. And people, friends, co-workers, family that motivates you. Inpsiring leaders, role models. Websites could also be motivational. Denpa-chan motivates me a bit ;3

Motivational speakers and speeches are the most nauseatingly apparent formulation of our present control societies. In the past we were forced to work against threat of punishment, our workplaces were disciplinary spaces. Now we are instead encouraged to "become our best selves", go through "self improvement" to become "more productive". Nowhere is this more evident than the motivational speaker. He serves no other purpose than to reshape our desire in the form of the capitalist productivity cult. It's no surprise that you feel that you need an external injection of motivation, you are expected to hustle, grind, self improve, all in order to receive nothing in return. Motivational speeches very much are about something specific, they are specifically about what you have experienced, bringing you hope where there is none, making you happy about your present situation, and re-framing your psychic distress as a lack of motivation. The fact that your idea of a good song or movie is merely whatever makes you feel hopeful and happy, to be honest I find you disgusting.
