How do you resist the pressure to get a "better" job?

I am going to do a comfy job that doesn't pay much but isn't awful. How do I resist the social pressure from friends and family to get a "better" job which pays more but requires more effort. This isn't the first time I ended up losing a comfy job (which actually paid good) but which is lower class.

Like I was so happy about getting the current job until when I told a friend who made it sound like this was an unfortunate situation I may recover from, even if I have fallen behind.

There's an irrational worship of effort and money and the two blend together into a poisonous concoction which robs people of happiness through an obsession with status or the lack there of.

I don't know what I should do to counter these voices around me. Maybe I could read some blogs, books and podcasts or youtube channels... but I don't know where to start.

Let me know if you have any tips.

same as any toxic relationship. simply cut ties. you can't change their mind or behaviour. you can't simply "not care". the only solution is say "goodbye" and get a less shit social group.

I am Asian lol. This mentally ill social pressure is even worse in poor Asian countries. Only doctors and lawyers are considered good jobs.
