To the North there are large hills covered in various shrubs and bushes, beyond them lies a forest.
To the East, there is another beach that is made of various types of stone.
To the West there is another island, but it's far enough away that it is featureless.
To the South there is open ocean.

Genuinely interested what people here would do in this situation, seeming as we mostly consist of indoor types.

The first thing to do is look for resources and make a shelter. Since there's a forrest with wood lying around, it wouldn't be hard to make a simple hut. Find some sturdy bits of wood or a log and gather palm trees (I'm assuming there will be palm trees) to create a simple hut to keep you out of the sun. I'd search the beach for any garbage or junk that's drifted ashore. Ideally, if you find some plastic wrap or similar material you could build a simple solar still. Metal objects and tarp would be a great find. You could sharpen the metal with stones to make a knife if you don't have one. On the first day, I'd go looking for coconuts and fruit or check rocky tidal pools for small fish or shellfish. The hard part is building a fire without a lighter. I know the method but I've never successfully done this so it would just be trial and error. Once you can make fire, you can boil rain or freshwater and solve your water problem easily. I'd probably make a spear and use that to fish in shallow waters. Once I'm secure, I'd venture further in land a little bit. It would be good to look for a place you can use as shelter and retreat back to during a storm. I guess the hardest part would be meds because you need to know your plants for that.

I think that there should be a hut where there is enough room for everyone, then resources can be conserved by keeping one building warm rather then people collecting fire wood and wasting it on individual fires

There are wild boar and some reptiles, but apart form those there is not really any large fauna
there are palm trees and various bushes that grow tropical fruits and berries
there would be enough to sustain everyone but not enough for each person to gain any meaningful amount of excess weight

I look for a banana and starve to death while admiring it. Bananas are such an awe inspiring fruit. Alternatively I go East and lie on the beach pretending to be a stone. Damn, I'm getting giddy just thinking about these prospects.

Id collect some stones from the beach. A sharp one, a dull one, and a pebble. Id then go to the shrubs and find vines to uze as rope, which id use to make tools out of branches and such. I would avoid going into the dense woods until i figure out how to build a bow and arrow, but likely mu first weapon would be a long thick branch to make a spear. Id likely try fishing in the clesr waters with it. But id also construct a covered area around some close together trees and grab a bunch of leaves from the trees to make something to sit or lye on when i need to sleep. A fire would be required at some point to cook meat, but i dont know how to start one so id likely experiment with some of the stones. Perhaps i would also show others how i made the things, or maybe barter by making multiple tools and shelters and asking for fruit or other useful objects in return for putting shelters together. Maybe our ragged clothes could be used for bandages, and perhaps shoe laces would be useful for early forms of tools id make. Id try and have a go at making a drum and then at night... campfire songs ! ( likely someone would have a lighter or something on them until i master the firemaking with my tools ).
