“blacklisted item”

it’s dumb to have that rule without enough transparency to know what rule you have broken by using specific words, please let us know the banned words cause i have had lukewarm comments blacklisted for no reason

this and a publicly visible moderation log

to my knowledge blacklist items primarily are for url type "words" to get in the way of egregious spam. making the exact mechanisms clear removes a step of protection in the cat and mouse game with those them so not sure if making it public is ideal

A publicly visible moderation log would give people access to the egregious links that are often posted and then swiftly deleted on here. Which would not be good.

imagine typing a multi paragraph post just for it to get the “blacklisted item” screen after you post it. i agree that it serves a purpose but i’ve had tons of posts flagged and there is no way to know what the problem is.

there are two solutions for 6's problem. firstly (on my browser at least) going back after failure keeps the submitted text in the form, so i have been able to make modifications when i forget. Second, the habit of knowing it can happen so copying the text into clipboard before posting so it can be pasted and modified if fail.

i know it's not ideal in any case, as i have also lost posts in similar way.

if you press back, your post will still be there. also you can copy your post before posting it

even if you still have the comment imagine trying to find the elusive “blacklisted item” among 300 words.

you make it sound like it's only happened to you, and that it is somehow difficult to figure out. it's not a problem. it's really quite easy.

i’m going to type a 300 word post about how store bought cupcakes have decreased in quality over the years. then i’m going to ask you to find a specific word with no indication over the way it breaks a rule. if you can actually do that for every time anyone in this site has had that problem, or something along those lines, im going to personally send you a billion usd

it's the spam filter. The only banned words are a couple of slurs because they encourage low quality posting, and words that are common in the worst kind of spam. Outside of that, the filter blocks characters that would be in urls, but only sometimes, and frankly I can't figure out how it works either because it should just be regex but things which shouldn't effect it are effecting it and it doesn't make any sense.
I'm going to keep experimenting with the filter and try to make it less dogshit, but yeah, sorry. For the time being, avoid slashes and colons and things like that. They're not even supposed to be getting blocked, and the filter lets them through sometimes and I can't figure out what's causing this. Either way, I hope you can appreciate that this annoyance is partially necessary against having egregious spam advertising heinous shit on my website which I obviously don't want. But I have been and am continually trying to make the filter less shit so once again sorry.

So are URLs banned along with trying to evade that by e.g. posting the site name and the part of the URL for the exact article/video, or not? I saw a thread with some YouTube links. Was it recently implemented? People were doing something like in my example with the latest posts. Also have you considered making a meta board/thread?

urls aren't generally a problem. there is a problem of someone who was posting links to evil shit and they were evading keyword bans and mod dodging. the inability to post normal links is collateral damage so evading it with partial links for stuff like yt is fine (my opinion, not n0)
