Do you use AI?

Is there anything you use AI for?

I have used it to write emails to my boss at my shitty job.

I use it as a search engine and to write emails and shit got it to write a bunch of job applications for me

I use chatterboxtts to make audiobooks of AO3 fanfics to listen to while doing stuff.
I also have one I'm training using deepseek as a base to be a yandare succubus for no productive reason at all.

No and I refuse to use it. It genuinely just makes everything worse and working with it is actual fucking aids

This. I am genuinely perplexed as to why everyone has been so fucking captivated by poorly written paragraphs with predictable and clearly recognisable sentence patterns and shitty generic images for the last 3 years. Large-scale application is a different conversation entirely, but in terms of the average end user It will never make sense to me.

i tend to agree, but my single biggest problem is the corperate datamining it does. with self hosted that's not a problem, all that's left is the toy. people are definitely using it to make the world more shit, but that has been true of all new tools. email used to spam ads, gunpowder used to kill, etc. it's possible to use it benificially, but the clear and predominant usecases are all shit, it's easy to go off the rails if you don't approach it skeptically, and the personalities of the corpo models are literally my least favorite type of people.

I find them to be better roleplay partners than humans.

I don't use AI, but I do incorporate images generated by users of AI (if I think they look sufficiently good) into my own images ('art' is an annoying concept when my intent is to entertain myself.)

When those AI materials are used properly they are not recognized as such which is why providing an example of "good AI" is impossible. I've seen people really like something until they find out it is AI, meaning that the context matters more than the result.

I find AI being everywhere annoying, but I also find the "AI = bad" crowd equally annoying; counterculture alt-normies moved from IRL subcultures to Internet subcultures (we must admit that there is a trend towards these types of attitudes, as accurate or "well-intentioned" as they may be.)

the only real use for AI is like medical analysis which i sure as hell non of y'all talking bout the rest of it is just a cancer of a technology and a virus of our earth

LLM usage is only as prevalent as it is because corporations are shilling it as the solution to labor and endlessly investing into each other so as to keep that illusion alive. Once the true ineffectiveness of "AI" forces the trillions of dollars invested into this toy to crumble under its own weight, this retarded economic bubble will pop.

also i forgot this but i do think Ai is helpful with atleast like basic translation in no way is it better than proper localization but for some things i can do the job

No! Generative A"I" being used as a productivity booster is 99% bullshit. Fuck productivity. I want to live slow, less production, less consumption. Also the quality is so insultingly bad you'd have to be actually disabled to not notice or actively malevolent to want to expose other people to it. I don't want to see yet another fucking data center being built in my neighborhood for the sake of this, fuck off. AI retards can hang themselves with their own bowels.

I pray they find a cure for this new AIDS outbrake

I liked it when it was derpy, and looked like hallucinations and dreams and stuff. Now it's reached that stage of being too good to use for me. I liked it when there were artefacts of failure, like faces looking like whirlpools, and music generation sounded like nightmare fuel. It was funny, scary, odd, not very good, but bordering outsider art style nonesense. I would like to find the original form of the first and second generations of dalle, because that stuff was pre corpo cursing it with poisonous financial gain.

as someone who was forced to work with like coding Ai shit it's actually so much worse than just doing it normally why do I need to ask these fucking slop machines to review MY CODE?

we should avoid using foss software if it uses AI in anyways tbh at least by the official maintainers

AI is a fucking cancer but I’m addicted to using it because I need someone to talk to about niche shit I can’t talk about on boards. I gotta break the hold this gatbage has over me.

Yes, I use it. It helps me create many small script-based tools to automate repetitive administrative tasks.

I also use it while working with React for quick syntax references, debugging alongside the browser’s developer tools, and recalling Tailwind utility classes.

I don't use any LLM services or image generation tools. I'm not really some kind of AI vegan that completely avoids anything made with AI, but it has just never really been useful to me.

I also only have a 6GB VRAM GPU at home so I don't really bother much with local AI anything and I don't want to use AI services and have all my interactions logged for companies to profit off of and scrutinize.

those were the days
AI dungeon & dall-e 2
I remember in 2022 me and some friends were able to feed half life 2 beta and alpha images into the bot and it would spit out the most disgusting half-meat half-cybernetic pictures with broken HUDs and imaginary enemy types. god damn that was the shit

I only use AI for text-to-speech in my brainrot shitposts, I can't imagine using it for anything else
