If you count it, Naruto in like 2004 or 2005 or whenever the hell it came to Cartoon Network. Though I suppose if you want to go deeper than that I remember watching the Pokémon anime pretty early, though I cannot tell you what year this was. I also remember watching these Hello Kitty OVAs on VHS even earlier than that. It’s difficult counting those as firsts though since I was not really aware of what anime was then, so I guess it would be more accurate to say Haruhi and Lucky Star in 2007 after I started actively using 4chan.

OP here, technically speaking my first ever anime was when I watched half of a Dragon Ball on TV and got annoyed by the cliffhanger and stopped watching anime for a decade.

More technically the first anime I watched was when I convinced a streamer, on alternative streaming site, to watch the first season of One Punch Man on Kiss Anime. Does that count? Then few years back I got contact with an autist and he told me I'd like to watch Battle Programmer Shirase. I watched and I quite fancied it. It is the only anime proper I've watched. Dragon Ball was a glimpse. One Punch Man was a joke that went on too long, the dude even started watching season 2. I did not ;P

When I was a Kid I watched Digimon, but the show that got me into anime as a teenager was C3, after that I watched every show that featured a girl with blue hair and red eyes.

Technically mine is sonic X because I watched it on tv when I was little, but actually watch from beginning to end then its kill me baby. I was really into ytpmvs at the time and my favorite mvers loved using it as a sample so I decided to check it out. The anime was pretty mid looking back, funny jokes but dodgy animation, but it had its charm and I loved it when I watched it. Manga was pretty good too, just sucks that most new chapters are "ugly ass monster trolls the characters"

spirited away really solidified anime as a part of my identity, everything else was cool but it didn’t pander to my feminine side as much.

Naruto was my first anime, but i remember watching that time i got reincarnated as a slime after that.

pokemon for me as well but in spirit i want to say monster because its what got me into anime more seriously
