How does one watch ojamaho doremi and not get overwhelmed by its length?
I stopped watching when the purple one mind wipes the secondary cast to prevent them all from being frogged

when you finish it youll wish it was longer

I find that Doremi is best watched in very small chunks spread out over a long time. If you just keep track of which episode you're on and put one on semi-regularly, you'll finish it eventually. No need to worry about it much, it can go by quicker than you'd think...

Thanks, will keep that in mind. I'm about to (very slowly) finish Tokyo Mew Mew and was thinking of picking Doremi afterwards. I almost regret dropping out of the whole magical girl genre growing up, so many online friends of mine I met over the years were into it and I just never went back.

I love the mahou shoujo genre, and have a good amount of passion for it. When Madoka was first coming out I really enjoyed it and considered it my favorite anime, I even saw Rebellion the first week it came to theaters. That is not the case these days, both due to me having watched much more of the genre since then and my growing dislike for darker moe stories.

I dropped it after like 2-4 episodes. it sure is a show with girls with magic... but it's like not really a magical girl show.. . .. .
i don't mind the "let's kick otaku doomerism and just do what we want" and consider it one of the newer additions of the otaku nu-testament.
but eh? it's not fun being reminded constantly how shit popular culture is and how flanderized otaku media has become.

id be less hesitant to call kill-la-kill a mahou shoujo show (controversial)

anyway of adult oriented shows with magical girl themes Gushing Over Magical Girls is better. it like actually seems to care about the magical girl genre.

It starts off pretty strong up until all the members get introduced and the Tokyo Mew Mews name becomes canon. Afterwards the show plateous quite a bit and becomes very formulaic up until about Ep 30 or so, and by the end it's really picking up again in terms of writing. Zakuro and Mint do most of the carrying, but the rest of the cast is pretty great too. Even the annoying squeaky dog toy Pudding grew on me and I almost dropped the show just because of her.

MahoAko is the thing that finally made me go back to watch magical girls — starting with Tokyo Mew Mew — which... is sure going to be weird to explain if I get back in touch with my friends again. But Magia Baiser is my magical girl savior/idol, she is a mirror to a younger me I wish to be- and en route returning to.

Doremi made me become a mahou shoujo fan a few years ago after me mostly being into mecha shows. Some parts of Doremi were a bit of a drag or pissed me off a bunch (it's just gonna happen with ~50 ep seasons), but as a whole work, Doremi is amazing.
I ended up watching most of Precure after, there are like 4 seasons I haven't seen. I really need to finish GoPri, it is amazing. Not really a fan of Wonderful Precure right now, but I haven't dropped it either.

I still haven't watched Tokyo Mew Mew. I've been meaning to, I just haven't...

MahoAko is great. It absolutely feels like it's made by someone with a legitimate adoration for the genre, even if it's also like 80% a fetish work.
