What are you totally crazy over right now? I want to hear about anime and manga that have captivated you.
Myself, I am reading VIOLENCE JACK and I am going insane. It's a kick-ass story about the wretched hell land that is Kanto after a hellish megaquake rips it off of mainland Japan into a lawless region of violence and savagery. It has been a while since I've enjoyed any media this much, not just a manga. It is absurdly thrilling and stylish and dramatic. I think the last time I was this satisfied with reading anything was when I read Fist of the North Star, which I really need to go through again because I've forgotten most of the detail in that story...
The story is a bit self referential to Nagai's body of work, but you only need a passing familiarity with it. There is an incredibly cool arc that references Mazinger Z in a silly but remarkably well handled way despite the goofiness, and aspects from Devilman appear frequently through the whole thing.
The most painful thing is that Violence Jack isn't fully translated yet into English...
Just watched Haibane Renme, loved it and now will watch Texhnolyze
