I really want to sit down and watch Gavan. I've been meaning to for ages, but haven't. Every time I'm reminded it exists, I'm reminded of how cool it looks, and I'm reminded of the fact that I still haven't watched it.
I tried to get into modern Kamen Rider a few times, but I cannot get over how ugly it looks (and has looked for years). The effects are so aesthetically bad to the point where it's not even like, cheap. I think it's some failed attempt at a style. Oldschool Rider is just ridiculously cool. In particular, the absolute first couple of original Kamen Rider episodes are far too good on a cinematographic level, pure style. It doesn't last and things get sillier, but it's still a great show.
PGSM was surprisingly quite good from what I've watched. I didn't finish it (I am bad at finishing shows). It's also comically low budget in the VFX department (CG Luna is horrifying compared to whenever they just using the plush), but at least it seems like the result of proper cheapness. Totally worth watching.

Watching Zeiram & Zeiram II movies created by Keita Amemiya was some of the most fun I've had in years. The first one drags on a bit and while they aren't the greatest there's just so much heart in them. In everything in Keita Amemiya does. Dude does what he wants and that is above and all, in a word, cool shit.
Also GARO by him. Only seen the first season and I'm currently rewatching it. On the surface this stuff should be cringe but inside I'm going "YES! YES!" rooting for the low/mid-budget filmmaker whenever his vision translates from a concept to reality.
