different person here: I haven't seen this ever (besides one person who pretends they're remilia, and there's no porn links), and I go pretty often. I do only go in the night session though (02:00 GMT), I don't like the other one much, so maybe what you describe is more common with the crowd that shows up during that time period.
It definitely isn't a textboard, though.

It's always good to visit different BBSes and find different groups of people. I also strongly believe different sites should have different people and different cultures, since otherwise everything is the same boring bullshit everywhere. That's reason enough to visit an alternative site, to interact with a different crowd. Maybe you don't like a site and leave, or maybe you find somewhere new to hang out, who knows.
Hell, I wouldn't have found this place if someone on a different board didn't make a thread asking about other boards they visited. Can't remember which one in particular (it was an imageboard) and I absolutely cannot be bothered to check.
