gaining weight is hard when you have fast metabolism. even if ur metabolism isn't fast, u gotta consume what like 1000 extra calories PER DAY to gain? that shit will make you feel tired and sick straight up nigga. then ur body will activate everything in its power to stop you from eating as much and you'll loose any of the calories u started to gain

Unless you're a weightlifter on contest prep, or a sumo wrestler, there is no reason to eat 1000 extra calories per day. Why would you think that. You just need to be in any level of calorie surplus over a long enough period.

You mentioned having a fast metabolism, this is probably not a relevant factor. Basal metabolic rates only vary from person to person by a couple hundred calories per day.

Gaining weight is only hard if you specifically need extra protein because you're an athlete who needs to build muscle. If you're a regular person, it's very easy to get those extra calories through fat and carbs. In fact not only is it easy, cooking with more fat will make your food taste better.

You're probably having a hard time eating extra food because you suck at cooking, or you have some severe dietary restriction such as veganism. If it's the former, you live in the best time in human history to learn to cook, go watch some j kenji lopez alt videos. If it's the later, reconsider this restriction if possible.

even with this restriction it is not hard to increase intake by just adding an extra drizzle of cold pressed olive oil to basically any vegan/vegetarian dish.

it is not so easy when you have very little appetite combined with sensory perception issues with chewing and swallowing, while living in a high cost-of-living hellhole. i don't have any self-imposed dietary restrictions, i just hate eating because of how much discomfort it induces. some things i just cannot eat at all like untoasted sandwich-style bread which triggers my gag reflex without fail or rice which makes me feel terror due to the possibility of a grain accidentally going through my airway. i'll admit that i'm mostly inept at cooking but i really don't care for food being super tasty. i'm more content with unseasoned grilled mushrooms and a can of tuna or sardines than with a big complex and savory burger. maybe i should just drink a carton of 35% cream and a spoonful of bacon grease alongside every meal. and yes i am a bird, among other things. eyes like a hawk, heart like a lion, feet like a hind.

From google.
"To gain one pound, you generally need to consume an extra 3,500 calories above your regular daily intake, which translates to around 500 extra calories per day to gain a pound per week in a healthy way."

you misunderstand. i am rich. i can and do cook anything i want. i can go to any restaurant i want. and i still have these problems. i'm also not vegan because i am a moral nihilist. the problem is with biology. gaining weight and losing weight are both extremely difficult for a human to do. because body is always trying to reach homeostasis. so your body will make it more difficult to eat after multiple consecutive days where you ate more than normal.

There are many reasons why it can be difficult to gain weight, including:

Genetics
Some people have a naturally low BMI due to physical characteristics that run in their family.

Metabolism
A high metabolism can make it difficult to gain weight, even when eating a lot of calories.
Physical activity
People who are very active, like athletes or runners, burn more calories than they can eat.
Medications and treatments
Some medications and treatments can make it difficult to gain weight or cause weight loss.
Underlying health conditions
Some conditions, like cancer, diabetes, thyroid disorders, and digestive conditions, can make it difficult to gain weight.
Mental health
Mental health issues like anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and eating disorders can affect a person's ability to eat.
Not eating enough
People may not eat enough, or they may not be eating a healthy, balanced diet.

To gain weight healthily, you can try:

Eating more energy-dense foods

Eating frequent meals
Including plenty of spices, sauces, and condiments
Adding toppings to your food
Eating nutrient-dense snacks like nuts, dried fruit, and yogurt
Including nutritious drinks like milk, fruit juices, and smoothies
Adding cheese to soups, sandwiches, or toast
Using extra oils in cooking or as dressings

pair your fats & sugars. your body turns sugar into fat if it has a higher sugar intake than the fat you burn idly. cover bread in cheese. cook hashbrowns in bacon grease. biscuits & gravy, fried chicken, whole bags of cheeto's. if youre cooking yourself, do try to stick to animal fats, or higher oxidation point oils like avocado or coconut. remember kids, seed oils cause cancer *and* depression!!
