How to find online friends?

Those of you who talk to others online a lot, how do you find these people? I tried joining a discord for NEETs but it's a bunch of underage kids posting memes, I don't know where to find people to talk to other than imageboards like this. How did you find your online friends?

Gotta find a place where people are on the same wavelength as you (effortposters if you're an effortposter, memelords if you're a memelord, etc.), post, lurk, and listen until you find someone you can feel like you can click with and can discuss things in detail with. Don't just dump your blog posts in chat and fuck off. Take some time to know each other better, and if you feel like you're comfortable with it, start releaving your power level little by little. Emphasis on "little by little", you won't need to know each other's darkest secrets in detail, you just need to be aware of any less desirable sides' existence so it doesn't feel like you're hiding anything.

I go on Chitchat.gg which is an Omegle successor and talk to people and get their Discord if we hit it off

discords for a musician / band that you really fuck with can be a good way to either find like minded individuals or get good music recommendations. or maybe they'll all piss you off idk but i met most of my online friends this way

i’ve been really active on discord since 2016 and to be honest have never made any long term friends there. periodically i got kinda close with people, but idk. Honestly i believe that unless you are into spending LOTS of time with with people playing games, talking etc then you’re out of luck. Another tip is that you should never join “neet communities” they’re the cancer of the internet, most cool people i’ve met i did so in game community servers

Yeah I second the neet communities thing. People who love to make their social misgivings and lot in life their personality are generally not the best people to be around lol. Watch Haibane Renmie

haibane renmei is okay but i never quite got how the whole social structure of the world was. like what was that weird inside-the-walls place and what was the significance
