>>1 I generally make a little autistic Vegan platter. Today I was feeling ill so I made myself some smoked tofu and Vegan corn dogs and had some jelly and a yoghurt with a Red Bull for desert.
>>4 I always check the nutritional information and calories per 100g before I buy anything. If you're looking for cheap sources of calories, protein and general nutrients I'd suggest edible seeds, dried fruit, peanuts, peanut butter, tofu, any kinds of beans or legumes, brown or seeded breads, oates and bananas. Bananas are good because they're one of the few fruits that are actually high in calories as well as being high in calcium. Frozen fruit is also generally significantly cheaper, like significantly cheaper, than fresh fruit, and it lasts a lot longer. You can get frozen fruit in bulk as well. Honey is also another cheap source of calories and it has some nutritional benefit. That being said if you're being cheap 39p honey it's nowhere near as healthy as manuka honey but it can add some cheap calories and sweetness to your bulk frozen fruit buys. Also get LOTS of lentils. Personally I've started making lentil stews (often half green and half red) with peanut butter, chia seeds, flax seeds, and mixed veg. I generally use very small portions of a large variety of different cheap ingredients. Lentils take 10 minutes to boil so they're pretty easy to make as well, same with frozen veg.
