while what you are saying isn't wrong, it's also missing the bigger picture. we all want to think this is some kind of immersive drama based experience. but we are just the computation of envrionment data in a population score for a big game of RISK.

Then just wait. Once the infrastructure for people to watch loli all the time falls apart then people will stop watching loli all the time to diligently work to set up that infracture to watch loli all the time all over again. And so on and so forth.

If everyone was a complete hedonist then nothing would get done sure but good luck convincing everyone in the world to become a hedonist, within every society as long as there isn't overwhelming repression there will be lots of diversity, why does a value need to be applied to everyone equally? that's just not practical.

As for hedonism itself there are plenty of ways to motivate people to do difficult stuff and provide pleasure as a reward, instead of punishment as a threat. Rather than saying that if you don't work you won't eat and therefore die you can provide pleasures either from the outside (money, power etc) or from the inside (convince people working makes them feel useful and therefore doing it will make them feel good). We could have a society that is very similar to our own based almost solely on hedonism, and that just goes to show that hedonism really isn't anything special in the first place and if you want to break society you need something different, so don't worry about it.
