I really miss anime blogs, before anitube totally took over and became whatever it is now, there was anime blogging.
The reason why anime blogging died was because it's easier to watch youtube videos, and as for group discussions imageboards, comment sections on streaming sites and subreddits are just more convenient.
However I feel like something was lost.
What I am suggesting is not starting our own forum or new "platform."
Take over the abandoned r/animeblogs subreddit and start posting links to our personal blog posts which we host on our own websites.
I mean we could just use denpa-chan too but I feel like denpa-chan is more of a discussion forum than a place for shilling something.
This thought came to me while reading an old blog post about guiltycrown:
>>1 there literally is a board on here called shill where people are encouraged to shill their personal webpages and projects so... i really don't get this idea of declaring war on a subreddit for no reason. like if you got a blog, just post it in shill. you want other people to post their blogs, make a thread for it in shill. if this is to encourage more people to write blogs, i don't see how a denpa holy war on some random subreddit helps at all.
There needs to be a raising of the bar in quality if otaku blogs are ever going to come back. Most I've seen stop at shallow retrospectives, never digging deeper or adding original thought. This is only one symptom of the fact that otaku in the 2020s has become a dead object of nostalgia, but it still has potential and deserves development and critique. If anyone here can understand japanese, I recommend this blog for a fresh perspective on otaku: http://www.ne.jp/asahi/otaphysica/on/index.htm
