Description: Ishikawa Isshin, a freshman at North High has decided to join his high school’s Light Novel Club, hoping to get some inspiration and quiet, to work on his novel for a light novel writing contest. Unfortunately for Isshin, the club’s non-talkative bibliophilic book girl and old-tech obsessed club president, Izumi, as well as other members of the school faculty are intent on getting in his way by dragging him off to participate in miscellaneous after-school club activities. Will Isshin remain the reluctant member of the club and continue to regret his decision to have joined? Or will he come to love the club, and discover the true purpose of the Light Novel Club?

Genre: Highschool setting, near future, slight sci-fi

keep writing! i read the first chapter and skimmed a couple more. i think your grammar and sentence structure can be difficult to parse, but writing anything longform is a huge commitment and i have to praise your ambition. keep doing your best (◠‿・)—☆

Here's the novella i wrote almost two years ago: https://ouroboros.cafe/#sky-out . It's a fractured exploration of various perspective snapshots when the sun begins to blink. Kind of trying to disentangle the human response to absurdity and the unprecedented in the absence of immediate risk. Limiting it to the horror that sets in when reality proves to not work remotely the way you thought it did. I'm back to original longform now after having written a novel-length homestuck fic in the meantime.

Every character in this novel is an asshole. Not in the cool nisioisin way, but the way my melting brain assumed the worst in everyone when I was in high school.
Good shit.

Scotland is a nice setting.

Yeah this novella is nice but I couldn't quite keep up with all the characters, though maybe that's a me problem. Maybe fewer characters might have been better.
Is the story some kind of allegory?

That's fair. The print copy has a cast-page at the very beginning to alleviate that issue somewhat, but in the digital version it would obviously be inconvenient to keep skipping to the beginning, which is why i didn't include it. Fewer characters for this particular story isn't an option in my mind though. the whole idea is to get as broad of selection with regards to how one might react to such events as possible. Current works do have more limited casts.
