There is another plan9 boot camp starting out on September 22nd there supposedly about 30 new people signed up so far. It's a great place to jump into plan9 (specifically 9front). No need to have it installed, just need something that will run drawterm and ideally a mouse with 3 buttons (there are workarounds for trackpad users, and yes you can use a mouse with clickable scroll wheel.)

thanks for posting this I wouldn't have known otherwise. I used 9front on my raspberry pi 3b+ for about a week. I wrote a c program that read a push button i had wired up to the gpio. ima join.

Is participating in this boot camp purely passive or am I supposed to do something besides just listening to the livestream?

not "purely passive" there are "challenges" but they are on the basic side. i think the first one when i did it was " log in with drawterm and set faces icon" another was "make landing html/gemini page "
I do remember wishing it had a lot more suggested stuff to do. but I'm not sure if the structure is any different this time around.
