i agree that those sorts of clothes look very nice (especially pinafore dresses (i've been making one of those for someone) and shirts with puffy sleeves) but i believe that the development and widespread normalization of "formal" or "office" wear has been a massive regression in terms of variety and creator expression for clothing when compared to the sort of clothing that was fashionable in western, southern and central europe during the 16th and 17th centuries. we need to bring back floral and/or zoomorphic patterns, brass buckles and big frilly cuffs and collars.
