How denpa are you?

I'm curious to those who actively use the site whether they consider themselves "denpa" or if it's more of an aesthetic.

From what I have seen being Denpa is very much a state of being rather the an identity imo
I've been in a stat of Denpaness at various points in my life when I have been a NEET (which I am currently) and I have spent most of my time on niche interests or activities.
There is also the whole "Stuck in four walls" thing where you never leave your room, which again I would say is a baseline sense of being for a lot of people that tend to go on these sites, not to insult them.
Obviously some of us have jobs but I don't know how much that would affect how Denpa someone is, depends on the job

I assume that’s how it is for most people, but I’m curious if there are any who are drawn to the idea of denpa for its original associations with delusion. And that, for whatever reason, whether due to upbringing, media consumption, or pure isolation, they themselves become disillusioned. I imagine it might be similar for those who are religious or raised within a faith, who believe, through faith alone, in greater powers beyond themselves, powers that can be interacted with, forming a relationship that becomes part of their identity. So, in the case of denpa, to what extent do isolation and immersion in otaku culture turn that media into a kind of new god?

i agree with >>2 but id like to put forward that my relationship to denpa did not begin with denpa tube or denpa chan or whatever, like >>4 mentioned. my relationship to denpa began with emamouse and shinsei kammatechan. or maybe my relationship to denpa began with girls rituals... i used to suffer from profound delusions and at the height of these psychotic episodes i would often find myself going on walks at the middle of the night, i would often trespass and i would often find myself under the impression that i had some sort of magical powers to do with radio waves or the internet. on multiple occasions i had a great deal of trouble distinguishing my thoughts from the sound of the radio, 'what do you mean you cant hear that? theyre talking to us!' i would believe myself to have been given instructions in the music id select. old girls rituals fucking rips when you're a lonely delusional failgirl omfg

the latest event was about a year ago and for some of it i was obsessed with the word denpa itself, there's a few recordings of me talking about denpa radio as i wandered places like the graveyard i slept at when i ran out of couches to surf on. i could probably find them, dunno if i want to share them tho. maybe

since denpa originally refered to schizophrenics hearing voices via radio waves, i thinkk only those here who are on the psychotic spectrum can be technically called "denpa"

You should be less afraid of psychosis and more afraid of the evil spirits that prey on NEETs and drive you insane

The side effects of Haloperidol were used to torment prisoners in the USSR who were diagnosed with a special kind of schizophrenia diagnosis to make them seem insane and justify their torture with this medication that is still regularly prescribed to schizophrenics today. Just thought this could be relevant for the discussion.

In that country, it was considered a mental illness to oppose the government. I wonder subversive thoughts are opposed by the psychiatrists in western society.

Probably less so now but I believe there's definitely a push towards reverting back to primitive definitions/methods of diagnosis. Especially now that the internet has become much more widely used by normalfags.

Really depends on what arch I'm in. I've had periods of my life where I've had stable IRL romantic relationships, a stable job, and have been the chad amongst my friend group, then I've had other periods where I've went all but literally insane, abandoned everything, impulsively moved 400km away and lived in a cave in basically complete isolation for over a month.
Sometimes I'm incredibly articulate and have given what others have described as university professor tier lectures on history and philosophy, other times I'm highly neurotic and feel like I'm burden by extreme brain fog in one end and an almost pseudo-schizo psych on the other. I read all 3,000 pages of Das Capital in less than a week one time, then there are other long periods when I hardly have the attention span to read a half dozen pages and will go months without reading any books.
Right now I'm somewhere in between. I have a stable job, relationship, etc, and overall an doing very well, but I feeling the madness tearing away at the corner of my mind on a daily basis. Although that being said I feel like I've went through enough of these cycles to the extent that I am improving and am adopting a lifestyle that should keep me more grounded and on the ball with personal improvement.

"extremism" seems to be the word they use in the West. Its funny, I always wanted to learn more about the so called "extremists" and I spent a lot of time talking to anarchists, white nazis, and jihadists online. The jihadis were at least a bit sympathetic. None of them, apart from a handful of Nazis, seemed genuinely mentally ill. I think the Nartzees were just a bit stupid on average.
