Silent Hill 4 is the best of the SH quadrology because it actually depends on being a game to work as a game, the other SHs could've been told equally well or better as films or comics but to transport the player into Henry's head requires interactivity. The boringness of the game makes you want to go look out the window, peek through the hole in the wall, all voluntarily and slowly you come to embody Henry's isolation as the player. And the safe apartment becoming a haunted and hostile place over time is not the horror; the horror is that it is still the safe place, the only safe place and you have learned to love it and you don't even think about the door with the chains anymore. The only escape is delving deeper into your own isolated imagination only to resurface to a worse reflection of it in the real world. Good night.
