it's a religion & country of pease. No chainsaws allowed. Neom is the future. they generously granted refugee asylum status to all Palestinians & let them settle in Neom, visa free. They are very intelligent & skilled, friends of West, not like Zoroastrian Persians.
Saudi have no connections to 911. (because everyone learned that Sadam did it).
And they sponsor NA Turkey runs!
Saudi is the future. We need more Mosques all over Eurasia & Africa, because we are not smart to rule ourself & we never had our own religion & God. Look they had a book 9000 years ago, and we just recently learned how to write & type.
Have you seen a sword on a flag? it's a symbol of peace & love & kindness & tolerance.

I've always just gotten into bed, curled up in my blankets, and tried to stabilize myself in some way so I don't end up hurting myself. It mostly works. I find that rain sounds relax me, so if you're in a situation where you're able to have loud ambient noise and it wouldn't just make your situation worse, That's an option too.

I've also taken hot showers, rambled and yelled to myself about whatever it is that's triggering the anxiety or dread, researched philosophy and thought relating to pessimism and death, and (as 119 also does,) watched some relaxing anime (My choice would probably be AzuDaioh or Lucky Star because I'm intimately familiar with them more than anything else.)

Oh, Music helps me sometimes. Specifically: harsh noise. It's not for everyone, but since we're on denpa-chan and you lot trend more autistic and schizo, I'd recommend you try some. It's very cathartic if you're emotional, and even when you aren't, it's still interesting enough to be engaging (provided you don't perceive it as "just noise" and don't get it, which is fine, because I think in order to enjoy it you have to have a certain sort of openness to all kinds of music.)

Anybody here enjoy some harsh noise, though?

Netflix and Steam are evil. I'm sick of people saying Steam is the only good monopoly. Just because something has perks doesn't make it good. Steam is a cancer and Netflix is cancer.

regardless of how much I like Steam, I despise the fact that it is the ONLY real storefront for PC games at this point and I am immensely concerned for when gabe dies/goes senile/abandons any sense of principles because it's not like valve isn't a multi-billion dollar company lol

Monopolies suck, and monopolies that exist just because the competition actively spends time doing dumb Dick Dastardly bullshit instead of actually competing REALLY suck. I'm still pissed that Tim Sweeney seems to insist on actively trying to be like Lex Luthor towards Superman when it comes to Steam, rather than actually improving their product and giving people a reason to use their services. Epic's store is so lacking versus using Steam for no reason. It's so bad that no one even wants the free games on Epic, since that means you'd need to use the shitty ass Epic launcher.
I've seen a ton of PC game releases lose ALL TRACTION due to being an EGS timed exclusive.

I could keep going but now I'm getting angry.
Also, I really should go use GOG more, since I won't need to worry about what happens to my library if Steam ever breaks their promises. Technically, I can just "acquire" those games after the fact, but it's better to support a company that has actively made it so you don't need to depend on their continued existence to play the games you bought.

When it comes to online game stores, people go ‘oh steam is good’ while steam has things as DRM and online activation required to play too.

Meanwhile on gog and itch you actually own your games, you can make your own offline game archive.

It greatly annoys me too that indie devs seem ONLY to release on steam, totally ignoring other platforms.
137 Name: Anonymous 2026-02-05 11:55
You can un-DRM steam games with goldb3rg

It’s not that they ignore other platforms it’s because steam is a monopoly that will crush you unless you work with it. It’s like Amazon. You have to sell your books on amazon or you won’t make any money. Same with steam.

What stopping an indie dev from putting their game on itch? Does steam show up at the front door?

The older I get the less I play video games, does anyone else have this happen?
I don't think it has anything to do with responsibility, I think it has something to do with having a different kind of engagement as the games I still do play are ones that are slow paced
141 Name: Anonymous 2026-02-05 17:43
>>139
Even indie games have Steam achievements, so it'd require making a separate build of the game, at the very least. Cloud saves also, maybe. The Steam "emulator" linked earlier also suggests devs use it to simplify republishing games:

If you are a game developper and made the mistake of depending too much on the steam api and want to release of version of your game without it and don't want to rewrite your game, this is for you. It is licenced LGPLv3+ so the only source code you need to publish is the source code of this emulator (and only if you make modification to it).
142 Name: Anonymous 2026-02-05 18:50

Same. Its expensive and I just don't have the time. There's a good chance that the genre of games you used to be into when you were young aren't being made anymore so there's less incentive to keep up with new releases. I used to be obsessed with survival horror and then came along the slender man clones and streamer bait titles, low quality slop marketed as horror so it all felt pointless. These days I pretty much only play older titles and VNs. Newer games just look awful, they look like they mimic work with all the stat maxxing and grinding. So you are paying to work. Fuck that.
143 Name: Anonymous 2026-02-05 23:08
More I analyse past gaming, I realise it’s all slop. Was there ever a golden age? At least the last time the market had a sloppening the ‘83 crash happened

>>143
It’s always been slop filled but you stop keeping up with the industry when the era of games you actually enjoyed passes.

146 Name: Anonymous 2026-02-06 04:22
>>143
It's not all slop, but there's a lot of pure trash, yes.

This does not mean there aren't any brilliant games, and some systems will be much less terrible for doing this than others.
N64 has a surprisingly high quality-to-shit ratio, and this has nothing to do with nostalgia - there was a bigger market on PS1, so there are oceans of trash there, burying the dozens and dozens of top-class games the PS1 has.
Case in point (if not a great point): the 32X has a weirdly high quality-to-shit ratio, although I will admit that this is largely because the library is full of several fairly decent ports of some very good games, and there are less than 40 games period.
The 2600, NES, PS1, PS2, and Wii are probably the most slop-filled machines, but that's largely because they had such high market share.

If you want to feel jaded, sit down with a fullset of games for almost any given system and play them one-by-one in alphabetical order for a few minutes each. You will encounter more garbage than you could have ever believed existed.
Doing this with the NES is actually pure fucking torture.
This doesn't mean you won't also encounter the games that people actually liked.

There are machines with really high quality to shit ratios (like the Neo Geo AES, even if you will play through dozens of fighting games, some of them basically yearly releases like KOF), but you will also notice the fact that those systems don't have very many games on them overall.
147 Name: Anonymous 2026-02-06 11:48
It does feel that the market share of pure slop has dramatically increased because of the sheer ease of making indie slop titles.
148 Name: Anonymous 2026-02-06 14:24
In order to stop being endlessly inundated with pure trash in terms of media, I simply have a ban on anything from this decade. I don't play, watch, read, or listen to anything made after 2019. The last six years have for the most part been a failure and I'm done trying to engage with the culture surrounding the world today. I'm repulsed by where we are and what we're doing and I think this general guideline reflects that, though by 2018 the cracks were already starting to show, so really this rule of mine is mostly encouragement to experience more stuff from the 90s and 2000s.

(I don't follow this rule to the letter, since there are some good bands left that had albums I like in, say, 2021, but generally speaking it's better for me across the board if I just stop existing in the 2020s as best I can.)

Source games just have that vibe to them. I don't really like the word 'liminal' because it's one of a million words the internet likes to overuse to the point of undefinition and loss of meaning (ie: slop,) but Source games do have this sense of liminality to them that simultaneously unsettles me and draws me closer to the game. I've never played Counter-Strike before, but I'd imagine it would be a similar feeling as walking around in an empty CS map or something. Very unique emotion!

On a somewhat-related note, I just remembered this cool game jam on itch where the premise was that you had to make a game about a dying MMO. There are a few gems that came out of it. I'd recommend checking it out; the one I remember the most vividly is 'Sanctuarium Online,' which plays like a DS Emulator! The game itself was just alright, but the emulator was a really neat concept.

well I disagree with you but I do think we should probably keep the sexposting to a minimum. For me it has nothing to do with 'muh lgtvabc123' or whatever, it's just sort of unnecessary and we can talk about stuff like that on occasion without it being the sole topic of discussion (even though it'll probably blow over anyway. 50 replies from now, I guarantee we'll be onto something completely different.)

To help facilitate that: I've been on a Skyrim kick again; downloaded a huge modlist this time. Once every few months, biannually perhaps, I get this extreme urge to play every Elder Scrolls game again. So I do. Usually get burnt out after a few hours, though, because I'll spend upwards of 8-12 hours every day solely playing TES. This autism shit gets serious ;-;

Mhm. Horse mechanics are for the most part undercooked; mounted combat wasn't even in the base game, iirc. They added it in a patch some time after release. Also, horses are essentially roleplay items; I'm relatively sure they aren't actually that much faster compared to foot-travel.

The biggest issue with horses is, of course, that they fight enemies when you dismount, making it inconvenient to have one. If it dies (which is very possible unless you have a mod that makes the horse not aggro everything,) it becomes a waste of a thousand gold. At least you can get something for your character to be sad about, though. It might be a good avenue for some development in that regard.

Skyrim was never my favourite when it came to character roleplaying, anyhow. TESII Daggerfall is the most 'open-world' of them all, though it's definitely more antiquated and focused on huge, sprawling dungeon-crawls than any other Elder Scrolls game (if you aren't playing a thief.) Love it to death either way.

I wish we could go back to a world where there were separate scenes for stuff instead of a social media monoculture which globalizes mass retardation. Everyone listens and makes the same types of music. Dresses the same. Talks the same. Part of the same tribes. Like today I saw a bunch of trumptards in maga hats and we’re not even in America ffs and all the college kids dress in twitter instagram fashion and listen to the same generic music. The internet is just a mass retardation dispenser.
182 Name: Anonymous 2026-02-11 17:47
>>181
Dude, what are you saying. Monoculture has been a thing since mass media (post ww1 consensus), it isn't specific to 21st social media.
Also, it matters little if you have 1 (one) "retarded culture" or 20 disparate equally "retarded cultures".

Everyone listens and makes the same types of music. Dresses the same. Talks the same.

Like that is literally what a _culture_ is. "Going back" isn't gonna fix it. There is no place for you to go back to.
183 Name: Anonymous 2026-02-11 23:30
>>182
What? Let’s say you want to go out and listen to some music in 1933. If you are in Chicago or in New Orleans, there’s a good chance you’re going to be listening to very different sounds played by local musicians with their own way of doing things. There may be overlap and learning about others through records and jukes or producing Tin Pan Alley slop. Even popular musicians in India were massively different from those in New York. We don’t have that sense of distance anymore. Nowadays, a handful of styles become dominant and spread everywhere via the internet and everyone tries to copy those styles. Local traditions of musicianship die or get absorbed into the slop.

Like that is literally what a _culture_ is.
No it isn’t and even then we used to have different cultures. Now we have one Twitter borne monoculture that spreads everywhere like a pandemic virus mincing every other culture. And if something doesn’t fit this internet borne sickness, then it’s bad and has to be replaced. Like here I am in a country that has virtually no immigrants, but people here are being whipped up by Magatard anti-immigrant hysteria. Why? It’s what they saw online. Stupid fucks have their mind in one place and their bodies somewhere else.
