Is there an "Essential Denpatube" playlist with notible the whole Denpire crew and the minor denpas from the post digi era? If not someone should get on that shit
11 Name: Anonymous 2025-07-19 11:16
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vf1TX_ZoFSg

not a playlist but I did a video project that was kind of oriented in this direction. A curatorial composition mostly made out of denpatube material. made it for a live event screening in March 2023 and tried to upload it to youtube 4 different times but due to copyright stuff I could never get it to work without cutting out a handful of minutes so I never published the video (I think the version linked is missing about 4ish min total from 3 different sections). It notably features material from some Kareausu vids (which I noticed some people were asking about recently).

a list of the videos with material used can be found here:

It's nice to have existed in such a way. it would be cool to exist that way again, but it never can be. the hope is that i will be able to exist in a more interesting way tomorrow.

imagine being someone who also got a preview copy of the video, and was like "wow this is really cool, maybe i should react to it"
in this purely hypothetical case, imagine that about 15 minutes into it, you have lost all spiritual hp due to the powerful waves this thing puts off and you feel like if you keep watching the video will quite literally kill you. you know it's impossible to make a reaction to it. it is very much cool, and you like it, but you are simply too close to the subject matter to detach enough to not be assulted by schizo attacks.
so you put it away on your harddrive next to your archive of other denpa videos (including every kaeresu video) to come back to later when you are far enough removed from it that it no longer destroys you to watch. and before that happens the harddrive it lived on failed and you had thought you had lost the opportunity to ever watch the video in full because as far as you could tell there was no public version of it.

anyway. purely hypothetical. but lets just say one might feel like they can get why n0 didn't react, especially if it wasn't made any more clear to n0 than it was to ... this hypothetical person... what the point was.

Additional context for those who are interested:
As part of the event, I staged the room as a kind of otaku bedroom and provided free mountain dew and vodka to the audience.
There was also a page of text I wrote that did some work to contextualize the video to an unfamiliar audience, explained some of my background and motivation for the project, as well as some of the techniques used. On the back of the page was the list of videos quoted. These program notes were placed in transparent anime folders that were spread around the room.

I'm not going to post the links since I think Osaka alluded to the secrecy of them being part of the appeal, but I can tell you that I just counted 9 solo channels + some channels that have been used for collabs or collectives. it has now been 4 days since i last heard from osaka syndrome, not a second goes by without me longing for his heavenly tone and wonderful insights. he has vanished into the digital ether, but like a note that continues to play long after the melody is over, he continues to persist, to vibrate our very being. perhaps, he is surfing the spanish web, searching for hidden gold in the digital abyss like a 21st century conquistador? or maybe he is working on something big, something that will change the online landscape forever, a beautiful work of art that will be remembered for time immemorial, the Osaka Lisa.

until his glorious return, i wait. not idly, but with reverence, for his return will be like Jesus on the third day, and in that quiet anticipation, he lives. still vibrating, still echoing. not gone. only becoming.

it can be hard to love yourself and even harder to accept that love. you're not used to praise, i get it, people in your life spent a lot of time putting you down, but that doesn't mean you have to join their symphony too.

I think you're reading a bit too much into what I am saying. I don't think I am a failure (I do not even believe in that concept.) And I definitely do not judge myself up against others. I don't think it makes a lot of sense to do that. Rather, people should be judged in comparison to where they used to be in the past. You know, in terms of how much progress they've made. I am a regular guy. Nothing spectacular. I have flaws and strengths like anyone else. But I am proud of the progress I've been able to make so far. why did hackitivism die after achieving nothing
Hacktivists remind me a lot of a certain type of jihadist that unfortunately became very common. Like these jihadists, hacktivists were not well trained, fixated on short-term goals. It was technical sophistication mixed with immaturity. People realized hackers could be easily manipulated. Others realized their struggle for justice would never succeed with hackers getting involved.

"god differs from the unknown, in that a profound emotion, coming from the depths of childhood, is in us bound to the evocation of Him. The unknown on the contrary leaves on cold, does no elicit our love until it overturns everything within us like a violent wind."

how am i supposed to take this dead man seriously? is this statement willfully obtuse, or is he only illuding to the indoctination of youthful upbringing without saying as much for fear of church retaliation? children have innate natural curiousity about everything, and everything is unknown to them. they only know about an idea of god because their parents say so.
I'm trying. i really am. i can bare the pretentions (listening for the meaning muffled from being spoken so deep up the rectum), but this countercyclic and wrong on the face of it drivel...

"such an experience is not beyond expression; I communicate it to whoever is unaware of it"

I'm not super familiar with that particular bataille piece, I should have specified I was talking about "The Accursed Share", but I'll have a go at tackling that sentence you quoted.

You're missing the context which informs Bataille's usage of the word "God", you're thinking of it only in terms of the christian god, but he immediately dismisses christians as dogmatists. A few pages later, he dismisses the gods of organized religion, saying "God in Islam or the Christian Church; in the Buddhist Church this negative end: the suppression of pain", which he finds unconvincing for reasons I'll explain in a second.

Bataille is talking of ecstatic experience, the moments of extreme inner experience which defy reason and seem to take us beyond ourselves. The concept of "the inconceivable unknown" is what he refers to when he says "god". But you can't just call it "the inconceivable unknown", because it's not equivalent directly to just "the unknown". This is because through "states of ecstasy, of ravishment, at least of meditated emotion", it is experiencable. It's already accessible to us from childhood in the form of "a profound emotion". That emotion being "the pleasure to be drawn from a ravishment", "states of ecstasy". Bataille's whole deal is being a kinky motherfucker who thinks pleasure and pain converge into something called a "limit experience". This is why he doesn't like god as "the suppression of pain", because he thinks it dismisses the ecstatic pleasure to be found in pain.

So, because it can't be reduced to "the unknown", he refers to this Thing that you can access during the extremes of experience as "God", because it's the closest concept he can think of to something which seems to go beyond us, isn't holly knowable, but also isn't merely "the unknown". Something which is experiencable, but not knowable, that's what Bataille calls "god". Does any of that make sense?
66 Name: Anonymous 2025-08-10 14:12
>>65
|Bataille's whole deal is being a kinky motherfucker

ya i got that much from word go in "My Mother, Madame Edwarda, The Dead Man"

|make sense?

more, but still contentious. but I'm not sure why he'd choose god to describe something no one else would term god, nor do i understand why he'd say this is something which exist in us from the depths of childhood. I believe it's in /him/ from childhood tho. and/or why the unknown is "cold" so far my much too brief critic of inner experience is "read Destination:void by Frank herbert", but we do have more words that that. also I have moved to accursed share. it's more digestible. we will most certainly have more. and it will take time. but the briefest portion at this moment is 'search in daemon : read from "Vangelis music" to "The images of DNA" '
with context "So, please, carefully consider your options, and just remember - no matter what you choose - you serve a crucial role in evolution."
67 Name: Anonymous 2025-08-10 16:07
Those who dismiss "organized religion" are foolish. If I am reading him right, Bataille's 'limit experience' is an attempt on the part of secular intellectuals to mine religion for insights to supplant their own failing belief system.
68 Name: Anonymous 2025-08-10 17:25
>>66
I'm not sure why he'd choose god to describe something no one else would term god
It's kind of complicated and drawing on a lot of previous philosophy. I think what he's really talking about is the Kantian noumena or thing in itself. IDK how to explain this succinctly but he calls this "god" in reference to spinoza's god of nature, because nietzsche and schopenhauer. I can go into more detail if you'd like me to.
I believe it's in /him/ from childhood tho
Yeah, Bataille has a tendency to universalise his own experience. I believe the point of inner experience is in part him justifying this, something along the lines of "thus far philosophers have privileged knowledge over experience but here's why I think experience has things knowledge can't do", but I'd have to read the whole book to be work out his reasoning.
read from "Vangelis music" to "The images of DNA"
Definitely a highlight of the book. After finishing Daemon I think my criticism was both too harsh and too unfocused in my blog post. IMO this stuff is definitely extremely compatible with Bataille, you can already imagine conceptualizing the parasite in relation to excess and expenditure, or characterising our relationship to the sun, and I can even see a legitimate politics here. "They have so enslaved us that we believe we’re reproducing ourselves, when in reality, we’re reproducing hidden others within us", this I think aligns somewhat with baudrillard's fatal strategies, although I'm still not that familiar with it so I might be misinterpreting something here. It has a chapter on "ironic strategies", given that direct or indirect resistance from the outside is impossible, the strategy is to ironically affirm from within until the system pushes itself into it's own opposite. There's something to it.

I find the idea of "christ cuck" very curious. It is as if the speaker is speaking from a position of moral superiority. "Unlike you, I don't need to rely on anyone else, but myself. I am not weak. I don't need superstitions." Yet, this vision of individuality is so utopian it cannot be realized in the world. Secular religion, which is ideology or for some philosophy, is a feeble pseudo-theology. Marx once said that critique begins with the criticism of religion. Maybe we now need the opposite?

Guy who is incapable of viewing the world outside of a religious perspective.
74 Name: Anonymous 2025-08-11 01:14
Those who claim not to have a religious perspective are hypocrites. They cannot meaningfully define the word 'religion' but insist it should not be applied to them. Like myth, superstition, and magic, it is yet another buzzword secular Europeans reserved for those they conquered and continue to terrorize with their drones and aircraft. In this way, they established a monopoly on truth for their own beliefs. It doesn't take a genius to see what master anti-religious dogma serves and we can include here the pseudo-Christian heresies peddled by Zizek. The secular Enlightenment project has run its course. Gaza, Afghanistan, Auschwitz, Hiroshima is were the mask came off and its hideousness was exposed. A philosophy of the future cannot be a continuation of this inhumane school of thought and it won't come from the West, so by default it must be religious.

you just named a bunch of instances of religious violence, not secular violence. which is odd given that there are examples of secular violence you could cite. i am not making a claim about whether or not secularism is treated as a religion by some, i am saying the examples you are giving do not support that conclusion.
80 Name: Anonymous 2025-08-14 00:39

I don't think this is the thread to discuss this. But we might ask, what makes a violent act 'religious?' And, how can I meaningfully distinguish between an act of 'religious' violence from 'secular' violence? Whenever you point to an instance of violence carried out in the name of secular beliefs, you will find someone insisting that such acts were not really secular, usually through a sleight of hand.
