Is there an "Essential Denpatube" playlist with notible the whole Denpire crew and the minor denpas from the post digi era? If not someone should get on that shit
11 Name: Anonymous 2025-07-19 11:16
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vf1TX_ZoFSg

not a playlist but I did a video project that was kind of oriented in this direction. A curatorial composition mostly made out of denpatube material. made it for a live event screening in March 2023 and tried to upload it to youtube 4 different times but due to copyright stuff I could never get it to work without cutting out a handful of minutes so I never published the video (I think the version linked is missing about 4ish min total from 3 different sections). It notably features material from some Kareausu vids (which I noticed some people were asking about recently).

a list of the videos with material used can be found here:

The part where n0 fails to react to the video inside the video is golden

It's nice to have existed in such a way. it would be cool to exist that way again, but it never can be. the hope is that i will be able to exist in a more interesting way tomorrow.

imagine being someone who also got a preview copy of the video, and was like "wow this is really cool, maybe i should react to it"
in this purely hypothetical case, imagine that about 15 minutes into it, you have lost all spiritual hp due to the powerful waves this thing puts off and you feel like if you keep watching the video will quite literally kill you. you know it's impossible to make a reaction to it. it is very much cool, and you like it, but you are simply too close to the subject matter to detach enough to not be assulted by schizo attacks.
so you put it away on your harddrive next to your archive of other denpa videos (including every kaeresu video) to come back to later when you are far enough removed from it that it no longer destroys you to watch. and before that happens the harddrive it lived on failed and you had thought you had lost the opportunity to ever watch the video in full because as far as you could tell there was no public version of it.

anyway. purely hypothetical. but lets just say one might feel like they can get why n0 didn't react, especially if it wasn't made any more clear to n0 than it was to ... this hypothetical person... what the point was.

Additional context for those who are interested:
As part of the event, I staged the room as a kind of otaku bedroom and provided free mountain dew and vodka to the audience.
There was also a page of text I wrote that did some work to contextualize the video to an unfamiliar audience, explained some of my background and motivation for the project, as well as some of the techniques used. On the back of the page was the list of videos quoted. These program notes were placed in transparent anime folders that were spread around the room.

I'm not going to post the links since I think Osaka alluded to the secrecy of them being part of the appeal, but I can tell you that I just counted 9 solo channels + some channels that have been used for collabs or collectives. it has now been 4 days since i last heard from osaka syndrome, not a second goes by without me longing for his heavenly tone and wonderful insights. he has vanished into the digital ether, but like a note that continues to play long after the melody is over, he continues to persist, to vibrate our very being. perhaps, he is surfing the spanish web, searching for hidden gold in the digital abyss like a 21st century conquistador? or maybe he is working on something big, something that will change the online landscape forever, a beautiful work of art that will be remembered for time immemorial, the Osaka Lisa.

until his glorious return, i wait. not idly, but with reverence, for his return will be like Jesus on the third day, and in that quiet anticipation, he lives. still vibrating, still echoing. not gone. only becoming.

it can be hard to love yourself and even harder to accept that love. you're not used to praise, i get it, people in your life spent a lot of time putting you down, but that doesn't mean you have to join their symphony too.

I think you're reading a bit too much into what I am saying. I don't think I am a failure (I do not even believe in that concept.) And I definitely do not judge myself up against others. I don't think it makes a lot of sense to do that. Rather, people should be judged in comparison to where they used to be in the past. You know, in terms of how much progress they've made. I am a regular guy. Nothing spectacular. I have flaws and strengths like anyone else. But I am proud of the progress I've been able to make so far. why did hackitivism die after achieving nothing
Hacktivists remind me a lot of a certain type of jihadist that unfortunately became very common. Like these jihadists, hacktivists were not well trained, fixated on short-term goals. It was technical sophistication mixed with immaturity. People realized hackers could be easily manipulated. Others realized their struggle for justice would never succeed with hackers getting involved.

"god differs from the unknown, in that a profound emotion, coming from the depths of childhood, is in us bound to the evocation of Him. The unknown on the contrary leaves on cold, does no elicit our love until it overturns everything within us like a violent wind."

how am i supposed to take this dead man seriously? is this statement willfully obtuse, or is he only illuding to the indoctination of youthful upbringing without saying as much for fear of church retaliation? children have innate natural curiousity about everything, and everything is unknown to them. they only know about an idea of god because their parents say so.
I'm trying. i really am. i can bare the pretentions (listening for the meaning muffled from being spoken so deep up the rectum), but this countercyclic and wrong on the face of it drivel...

"such an experience is not beyond expression; I communicate it to whoever is unaware of it"

I'm not super familiar with that particular bataille piece, I should have specified I was talking about "The Accursed Share", but I'll have a go at tackling that sentence you quoted.

You're missing the context which informs Bataille's usage of the word "God", you're thinking of it only in terms of the christian god, but he immediately dismisses christians as dogmatists. A few pages later, he dismisses the gods of organized religion, saying "God in Islam or the Christian Church; in the Buddhist Church this negative end: the suppression of pain", which he finds unconvincing for reasons I'll explain in a second.

Bataille is talking of ecstatic experience, the moments of extreme inner experience which defy reason and seem to take us beyond ourselves. The concept of "the inconceivable unknown" is what he refers to when he says "god". But you can't just call it "the inconceivable unknown", because it's not equivalent directly to just "the unknown". This is because through "states of ecstasy, of ravishment, at least of meditated emotion", it is experiencable. It's already accessible to us from childhood in the form of "a profound emotion". That emotion being "the pleasure to be drawn from a ravishment", "states of ecstasy". Bataille's whole deal is being a kinky motherfucker who thinks pleasure and pain converge into something called a "limit experience". This is why he doesn't like god as "the suppression of pain", because he thinks it dismisses the ecstatic pleasure to be found in pain.

So, because it can't be reduced to "the unknown", he refers to this Thing that you can access during the extremes of experience as "God", because it's the closest concept he can think of to something which seems to go beyond us, isn't holly knowable, but also isn't merely "the unknown". Something which is experiencable, but not knowable, that's what Bataille calls "god". Does any of that make sense?
66 Name: Anonymous 2025-08-10 14:12
>>65
|Bataille's whole deal is being a kinky motherfucker

ya i got that much from word go in "My Mother, Madame Edwarda, The Dead Man"

|make sense?

more, but still contentious. but I'm not sure why he'd choose god to describe something no one else would term god, nor do i understand why he'd say this is something which exist in us from the depths of childhood. I believe it's in /him/ from childhood tho. and/or why the unknown is "cold" so far my much too brief critic of inner experience is "read Destination:void by Frank herbert", but we do have more words that that. also I have moved to accursed share. it's more digestible. we will most certainly have more. and it will take time. but the briefest portion at this moment is 'search in daemon : read from "Vangelis music" to "The images of DNA" '
with context "So, please, carefully consider your options, and just remember - no matter what you choose - you serve a crucial role in evolution."
67 Name: Anonymous 2025-08-10 16:07
Those who dismiss "organized religion" are foolish. If I am reading him right, Bataille's 'limit experience' is an attempt on the part of secular intellectuals to mine religion for insights to supplant their own failing belief system.
68 Name: Anonymous 2025-08-10 17:25
>>66
I'm not sure why he'd choose god to describe something no one else would term god
It's kind of complicated and drawing on a lot of previous philosophy. I think what he's really talking about is the Kantian noumena or thing in itself. IDK how to explain this succinctly but he calls this "god" in reference to spinoza's god of nature, because nietzsche and schopenhauer. I can go into more detail if you'd like me to.
I believe it's in /him/ from childhood tho
Yeah, Bataille has a tendency to universalise his own experience. I believe the point of inner experience is in part him justifying this, something along the lines of "thus far philosophers have privileged knowledge over experience but here's why I think experience has things knowledge can't do", but I'd have to read the whole book to be work out his reasoning.
read from "Vangelis music" to "The images of DNA"
Definitely a highlight of the book. After finishing Daemon I think my criticism was both too harsh and too unfocused in my blog post. IMO this stuff is definitely extremely compatible with Bataille, you can already imagine conceptualizing the parasite in relation to excess and expenditure, or characterising our relationship to the sun, and I can even see a legitimate politics here. "They have so enslaved us that we believe we’re reproducing ourselves, when in reality, we’re reproducing hidden others within us", this I think aligns somewhat with baudrillard's fatal strategies, although I'm still not that familiar with it so I might be misinterpreting something here. It has a chapter on "ironic strategies", given that direct or indirect resistance from the outside is impossible, the strategy is to ironically affirm from within until the system pushes itself into it's own opposite. There's something to it.

I find the idea of "christ cuck" very curious. It is as if the speaker is speaking from a position of moral superiority. "Unlike you, I don't need to rely on anyone else, but myself. I am not weak. I don't need superstitions." Yet, this vision of individuality is so utopian it cannot be realized in the world. Secular religion, which is ideology or for some philosophy, is a feeble pseudo-theology. Marx once said that critique begins with the criticism of religion. Maybe we now need the opposite?

Guy who is incapable of viewing the world outside of a religious perspective.
74 Name: Anonymous 2025-08-11 01:14
Those who claim not to have a religious perspective are hypocrites. They cannot meaningfully define the word 'religion' but insist it should not be applied to them. Like myth, superstition, and magic, it is yet another buzzword secular Europeans reserved for those they conquered and continue to terrorize with their drones and aircraft. In this way, they established a monopoly on truth for their own beliefs. It doesn't take a genius to see what master anti-religious dogma serves and we can include here the pseudo-Christian heresies peddled by Zizek. The secular Enlightenment project has run its course. Gaza, Afghanistan, Auschwitz, Hiroshima is were the mask came off and its hideousness was exposed. A philosophy of the future cannot be a continuation of this inhumane school of thought and it won't come from the West, so by default it must be religious.

you just named a bunch of instances of religious violence, not secular violence. which is odd given that there are examples of secular violence you could cite. i am not making a claim about whether or not secularism is treated as a religion by some, i am saying the examples you are giving do not support that conclusion.
80 Name: Anonymous 2025-08-14 00:39

I don't think this is the thread to discuss this. But we might ask, what makes a violent act 'religious?' And, how can I meaningfully distinguish between an act of 'religious' violence from 'secular' violence? Whenever you point to an instance of violence carried out in the name of secular beliefs, you will find someone insisting that such acts were not really secular, usually through a sleight of hand.

I consider "christcuck" to be a criticism of Christianity's insistence that you should use your abilities and privileges to tend to the poor, sick, and stupid. It's not neccesarily a claim that a person is weak, but that they have pledged (what) strength (they have) towards a cucked end because they've been tricked out of pursuing either their own or a higher interest.

I think Mint (the Denpa) has a point in his video "everything after 2008 is a cognitohazard. I definitely was like this too in regards to thinking that I can outsmart the machine and be immune to propaganda. But in the end of the day you really aren't that smart compared to the wealthiest conglomerates on earth employing psychic terror on you. Just using social media is already enough to fuck with you mentally and distort your view on reality. I don't remember what demographic he said it would concern the most, though I think Denpas and people similar to that are affected the most, because they're so far removed from society that they think they can "safely" consume normalfag media without getting sucked in and fucked over by malicious technology.
149 Name: Anonymous 2025-10-17 08:53
2008? This stuff has been happening for decades before 2008 but the delivery mechanism changed. The best way to destroy someone’s mind is to expose them to industrial civilization.
150 Name: Mint the Denpa 2025-10-17 17:22
>>148
The main point I was trying to get across in that video is that engaging in any way whatsoever brings you into the dialectic. A good example would be "alt-media" in the 2010s.
In the early 2010s there was a lot of talk about how the internet was going to make "old media" redundant. In 2025 "alt-media" has become little more than someone reading articles or watching news broadcasts from homogenised, mainstream "old media" sources and then giving their own commentary.
This is equally true of the left and the right, the extremes and the moderates on both ends. 90% of what people like Vaush or Matt Walsh do is react to the mainstream media and whatever else is being produced or done by massive multi billion dollar media conglomerates.
Stick on a 3 hour Vaush stream and it's literally just him watching CNN, Fox News or reading Politico. It's the digital equivalent of listening to your unhinged grandad rant incoherently at the TV screen as a kid and then thinking that by doing so you're somehow getting an "alternative perspective."
Your unhinged grandad probably thought that he was a free thinker, that he couldn't be fooled and didn't buy into any of their propaganda, that he was beyond the influence of any newscaster or big corporation, but he was under the assumption that he was supposed to sit placidly by and simply agree with everything that was presented to him.
What he didn't realise is that your feelings on the topic are largely irrelevant, because you're still being told WHAT to care about. Even if you have a negative or skeptical perspective on whatever you're being presented with it's still something that's being fed to you, you're still captured by it so whatever your perspective may be is really irrelevant, because you effectively only see and engage with what the media wants you to see and engage with.
The media tells them to walk one way so they turn around and sprint in the opposite direction, but their every movement, thought and emotion is still dictated by that very media.
You're never really free unless you just completely tune out.

>>149
I'm well aware of that, I'd be the first to criticise media prior to 2008. That being said I think their are significant years and eras where things accelerated. 2008~ is one of them because that's when smartphones started to become big. 2023 would be a similar year because likewise AI started to become big then.
Over the last year a lot of the "content" I've been consuming has actually been radio shows from the 30s to the early 50s.

it's silly to desire an actionbutton style "next video will be shorter"
but alas it's what my heart desires.

video format was fine, definitely aware of the line where a video becomes "just a recap", and makeing sure to stay away from it. the repeatability of the format for other things seems to be not a big problem, but keeping the driving "care" for the work seems to me to be the biggest risk. not that the general "animetube" watchers would care.

idk. in isolation it's good. I wouldn't mind seeing more, especially so for the vns that /do/ fill the top 10.
the fact that this was supposedly for a 7/10 not favorite vn is actually the thing that makes me most optimistic, altho it's possible that better vns would be harder to find an angle for.

It makes me kinda sad. I get the sentiment and the desire, but I liked the stuff that this marks a soft ending of. I think artists being so close to their work can make them forget it's value in the context of the whole culture/artform. At least we got the ultimate culmination of it all with the 12 hour podcasts. The scripted stuff is still good, and this way he'll probably get recognition and money and that's good, I'm sure I'll like what the channel becomes. 200 Name: Mint the Denpa 2025-11-14 14:04
All of my channels just got removed without warning or reason. All I got was some bot response of "spam and being deceptive."

"I believe that my channel may have been falsely removed because I shared a link to some Amos and Andy audio files on a website called "Radio Echoes". This link was relevant as the Amos and Andy radio show is in the public domain and the video contained an old radio ad for said program, in fact the Amos and Andy radio ad made up the majority of said video, and therefore the link was posted to direct curious people towards the relevant material, again all of which is free use.

The vast majority of my videos are personal vlogs in which I share my own subjective opinions. Occasionally I use esoteric or eccentric titles or thumbnails as a part of my aesthetic, but these are not intended to be deceptive.

I would like a specific example of why my channel was removed, as I can only guess."

Assuming the appeal above works I'm going to download all of my content and upload it on Archive.org. Honestly I might just exclusively make content and upload it on Archive.org. I'd rather have literally one single viewer there as opposed to a thousand some place where in the future potentially hundreds or thousands of my videos could be removed by a bot.

My appeal had a fucking character limit! Tens of hours of content, and I only get a 800 character appeal limit.

Just spread your videos all over the Internet so it gets into all the archives and caches. Don't rely on a single centralized website, distribute your videos everywhere possible. Don't rely on some website which could go offline or delete you any time, it's best to be on as many of those alternative platforms as possible. Which is not to say that self-hosting wouldn't be better, but that's probably not an option rn.

There was a massive surge of low quality, low effort, bad faith and quite frankly inane posts and posters about a month ago.
As a result actual posters no longer want to use the site because whenever they load it up all they see is an endless stream of one sentence posts with extremely poor grammar, spelling and punctuation. Whenever they try to post in earnest or make an interesting or wholesome thread all they'll get is replies such as "Your mom", "Ayumu Kasuga x OsakaSyndrome fucky fucky doujin 2300 yen pls buy now", "wow osaka ero doujins already" and similar inane replies, most of which probably aren't even directly replying to the relevant (or any) trip code.
Why would anyone want to post in this environment? Take a look at the last month of posts on this thread for example and tell me why anyone genuine would want to post here.
This is the most common blight of image/textboards. Wanna be Normies and R9K Robots flood the site, lower the average post quality. This dives away effort posters in what becoming a self fulfilling cycle, and eventually there's such a dearth of genuine posts that even the R9K retards get bored and leave. But the actual userbase never fully returns, just enough mouthbreathing Normalfags stay on to deter migration back to the site.
The only boards that avoid this are ones that consistently ban people for low quality posting, which is unfortunately shrinkingly few sites.

Someone's gotta call out this howard blast aka libido kamen guy. VNDB removed heaven burns red because it's literally a gacha game jrpg, not a visual novel, and he massively sperged out in the forums claiming it was a direct attack on him. Why? Because he's making some shitty "le epic pixel art undertale inspired indie RPG" and he for some reasons believes it's owed a spot on the visual novel website. He has an insane victim complex where he seems to genuinely believe there is some kind of anti-otaku conspiracy specifically targeting him, and he also has an inflated ego claiming that his game (which he's constantly begging for kickstarter money for) is going to give him "a status as a major cultural authority in the visual novel space", and that VNDB mods are "trying to set a precedent for not allowing it on the site by removing heaven burns red". He genuinely believes that mods on VNDB are so set on targeting his no-name indie game specifically that they're willing to throw Jun Maeda under the bus just to target him. This guy has a delusional level of ego and persecution complex and his fanbase seems to buy into it completely.

if he's the guy i think you are talking about, he's basically pitched his entire persona around the idea that western "anime style" artists are all terrible because they don't learn the same fundimentals but just tack on animeisms to their western style. where as /he/ is different, because /he/ learned anime art style by going through the anime art process only. he's had this saviour complex around this and wants to save the west by bringing authentic anime art here.
it's weird he is focused on some game he had literally nothing to do with tho. but seeing potential futures where his whole persona is devalued can make some people go full retard. so idk.

The thing is, it doesn't matter if you have an ego or not as a creator. You either make something good or you don't. Some creators love to shit talk and some don't, doesn't change the outcome.

ego is one thing, whatever, it literally doesn't matter if the game is good or not. Hebuban is a good game, maybe orkastle (his game) is good too who knows, that doesn't mean it's a visual novel, It's a turn based rpg!
262 Name: Anonymous 2026-01-04 09:33
What vndb allows and doesn't allow on the site kind of seems like random nonsense. There's tons of shit on there that doesn't fit the stated (arbitrary) inclusion criteria yet remains on the site.
263 Name: Anonymous 2026-01-04 14:17
you wanna know something about this "libido kamen" guy..
Despite putting a figure of hachiroku in his videos multiple times, if you check his vndb, he hasn't even read maitetsu! IMO, that's taboo. You shouldn't be flexing figures of a vn you haven't read.
264 Name: Anonymous 2026-01-04 14:28

Well, that's a misclassification error which is fair game to nipick then I guess. But he's a creator above all and these days when you discredit something they said (not did) it usually implies you are denouncing everything they make as well, as per modern online standards where everything must be a witch hunt. As for people with "takes" and commentary who produce nothing themselves, they're really a dime a dozen and will never be remembered anyway so who cares.

For me, it's this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaVHQujutCA

I haven't seen anybody call out the modern creator complex this well before. Indie games, at least the western ones, turned into something as tasteless as AAA (pretty much as soon as they stepped out of the freeware era imo) namely because of some of the things he describes here, doesn't even apply to "otaku media" specifically.

This video is not bad, sure. I agree with many of his takes. What I don't like is that he calls himself "the strongest otaku of the west" while standing in a room with barren white walls. No posters, tapestries, wallscrolls, dakis, manga collection, eroge collection, just one figure from a vn he hasn't even read. His technical skills are impressive don't get me wrong, I find it very admirable. But it has nothing to do with otaku. I can play various anisong on bass guitar. Learning bass took years of practice and learning those songs took lots of time. Just like language learning and illustration. I also know how to juggle. So what, it's neat, but irrelevant.
Here's something that's very telling in my opinion. In his most recent video, at 10:51, he tells you to "watch gochiusa 30 times". This is correct, you should do this, but this is where his reasoning is wrong also. He says to watch gochiusa 30 times in order to learn japanese. If you're only doing it to learn japanese, then you're not an otaku, you're someone who is passionate about language learning. There's nothing wrong with that of course, it's respectable. But you shouldn't go around calling yourself "the strongest otaku of the west" in that case. The strongest otaku would watch gochiusa 30 time just to spend more time with Chino. He's confused about what otaku means.

To me, he is an artist/designer first and foremost which is why I don't really care about his power level in regards to whatever else, even if it informs his main activity in some way. He does seem to claim to be the authority on a lot of things but those are not his domain as far as I'm concerned. If his primary job instead was to be an otaku culture expert then yes it would be embarrassing if he got a lot of things wrong, otherwise I see it as an eccentricity where he just talks shit for a bit.

first there was digibro and endless jess, and they died. Thus osaka, n0, plunder, magos, jailae, kearesu and dotesmite continued the chain. One by one they too died. magos and plunder went insane, the denpa overwhelmed them. Dotesmite and jailae simply found other interests and moved on. The last remaining denpas were n0 and osaka, until n0 too fell to the overwhelming radio waves and retreated to become a normie youtuber, and osaka succumbed to the allure of the iberophonic world and the orient. Once again the chain was broken, and once again the chain is reforged. The new generation will continue this tradition until they too die and pass on the tradition. in many ways it's beautiful.

As I get older, I find it increasingly more difficult to find value in art for being relatable. Like, as a teenager it was so important to me that Digibro made it big while being a fat stinky otaku, then when they committed career suicide I found refuge in the denpas and literature. Now as an adult I don't have a hunger for people to relate to at all.

I know he has mentioned that the Parz "character" began out of trying to perform his idealization of the unwavering otaku, but I'm not aware of him ever coming out and called himself a "poser" or "inauthentic". pretty sure it's just one butthurt retard. They can't imagine having an aspiration and so seeing someone aspiring to something causes them ego pain.
306 Name: Anonymous 2026-02-01 10:54
You must have a pretty rigid idea of who Parz should be if going to a live electronic music event is enough to break his character. I can't say that it bothers me in the slightest, but I'm also not very attached to this idea that he must be this loner hiki who just watches anime in his room.
People do things and change, big whoop.

I will say that Parz's actual eroge experience being so lacking was pretty surprising to me but it kind of makes sense when you think of him more as a 2000's eroge adaptation otaku which is actually fundamentally different in some ways.

n0 also does tend to speak about topics in a way that belies his actual experience with them, but I see that as a rhetorical style and tbh he is far from being the only otaku youtuber guilty of doing this. Usually it only really bothers me when I see someone denigrate some media or perspective that I like without them having actually engaged in it, knowing that this uniformed perspective might influence impressionable viewers.

Anyway policing other people's "authenticity" is lame, but it is nice to get informed perspective from passionate people.

Like porn it's hard to define exactly but you know Denpa content when you see it. I'd broadly say anyone within the Denpa-sphere. You see a lot of the same faces commenting on other Denpa videos. I don't think there's an adequate chosen undead to link the flame for denpatube anymore. anyone who's been around for digibro after dark has moved on, Dotesmite unlisted everything, n0 unlisted everything, osaka has been artistically stagnating for years now, the mobb imploded forever ago, kaerasu is gone, and susan wojcicki wants artificalnightsky dead.

I need someone to prove me wrong. Save denpa tube.

It makes sense for Osaker to be done with it, I'd say. We've got a couple of new channels keeping the 'Denpa' concept around and iterating on it with points of view Osaka doesn't have. More Denpa is better Denpa, and even if we don't have one Denpa, more will post to YouTube whether we're aware of their existence or not.

If every poster on this board uploaded to YouTube, we could really get things going.

The problem with denpa tube is it doesn't scale. You don't have much time to make videos if keeping up with denpa tube requires watching 40min videos. Aesthetically, the ramble is great, but it monopolizes your time.

I am of the opinion that something as nebulous as quality cannot determine a media productions 'denpaness'. It is a combination of aesthetics and subject matters. But even that feels to restrictive. You just know a denpa video when you see one.

osakasyndrome
n0thanky0u/idmr
dotesmite
jalae lain casaus
maggotsworryguts
mint the denpa
dripping ooze

there, that's a pretty good list right now. you have people like idle neet and my slice of life as well, but I don't know if I'd go so far as to call them 'denpa' because everyone I just listed (afaik) has at some point discussed 'denpa' and identified with the term. idle and slice and ashrose and the like feel more akin to general neet content. I know ashrose has at least acknowledged the existence of denpa, but I haven't watched much of mysliceoflife and has idle neet identified with it? perhaps include unim after the gem they released and the stream where they mentioned denpa.

By the way, are we talking about *self-proclaimed* denpa-tubers or are we using the catch-all schizovlog definition where you could include people beyond the specific subculture itself?

what are we thinking?
444 Name: Anonymous 2026-02-25 13:11

i would definitely include ashrose123 in the neo-denpa category
445 Name: Anonymous 2026-02-25 13:50
Since it seems some people are currently preoccupied with what it means for a channel/video to be considered "DenpaTube", I thought I'd share what that I arrived at when I was considering inclusion criteria 3-4 years ago as I was putting together the DenpaTube MetaMix video.
This wasn't intended to be a published prescriptive ruleset and was more for guiding my own process as well as contextualizing the scene for the audience at the live screening. Maybe you'll find it to be helpful, maybe you won't, but I found it useful for my purposes at the time.

Essentially I took definition of denpa at the following link, and replaced the words "moe" and "otaku" with "Digi/Trixie" https://altairandvega.wordpress.com/2012/03/21/denpa-bigaku-riron-the-rise-of-the-radio-aesthetic-in-japanese-subculture-in-the-21st-century/

This resulted in the following:
1. DenpaTube is made by (former) fans of Digi(Trixie) and circulates in the same infrastructure as those videos.
2. DenpaTube is pushing the elements of Digi(Trixie) videos to excessive and less commercially oriented results.
3. DenpaTube is a direct response to Digi(Trixie) (or as time goes on, it is a direct response or intentionally situated in relation to other DenpaTubers).

Oh, hi! Your metamix is awesome. Thanks for making it.
447 Name: Anonymous 2026-02-25 14:01
Also, I can recall mentions of princess plunderphonics and kearesu, but I've never been able to find any of their content. If anyone has their stuff, the future proprietor of this theoretical Denpa database could have it backed up on archive.org or something.
448 Name: Mint the Denpa 2026-02-25 18:01
>>443
I do think that there's a certain level of self identification necessary for someone to be considered Denpa. This is why Digital isn't Denpa, but Proto-Denpa. You could certainly say that some people are Denpa coded or use Denpa aesthetics but I think it's a subculture as much as it is an aesthetic.

The anxiety I feel is less so do to with my thought process in the moment and more a visceral immediate physical discomfort I feel from knowing that I am being perceived by another conscious entity. This perceiving energy is projected forth from ones eyes. As such, having an object to obscure my eyes from the eyes of others feels incredibly reassuring. It of course also dims the sun which is always too intense.

im honestly really quite happy with this little vlogging series i've created. ostensibly it is focused on tidying and organizing my room, and though i do not have a tidy room, i am quite happy with how it's become organized over the course of these vlogs...

the 11th one (010) is kind of insane and not exactly a vlog--i turned my phone into a body camera with a fisheye lens and i fucked up recording the audio but i liked the video so much that i decided to just throwing a bunch of my music on it and it ended up being pretty dope in my humble opinion.

So... Is DenpaTube now forever dead?
"Traditional" Denpa certainly is, if Osaka is gone.

There are a lot of people who make Denpa-style videos, but I'm going to miss Denpa as a deliberate choice and label.

no need to miss it. look harder. lurk moar.

shitty kickflips has some decent creative things going on in her vids. I know this says latest denpa vidz, but hey I'm being controversial ( oooo ). its chaotic enough to quench a tick tok rotted brain, while also being entertaining enough to not be overstimulating. is shitty kickflips denpa enough here ?

skf has been categorized by at least more than 1 person as "post-denpa" so while there might be groans it doesn't really matter, "denpa" is clearly reversably-apropos of skf.

I honestly feel like this over identification with and obsession with the label is what killed Denpa. Which I may have contributed to to be fair.
500 Name: Anonymous 2026-03-06 16:05
I've never watched a "denpa" video unless you mean music

Can you elaborate? In what way does the new obsession with the label differ from the original denpas' obsession.

Denpa, Pa Den, a den for Pas. Once we're all old men this will be our den. Mas allowed too. This is so bad but I'm gonna press reply anyway and you can't stop me. I can't stop me. HELP
504 Name: Anonymous 2026-03-07 02:59
hopefully with all the "denpa-tubers" gone this place can finally stop obsessing over them and we can just talk about anime and shit

I've finally fully committed to the Denpa Suicide Cult. Fuck the audience, fuck the parasocials.

If I archive my videos it'll be under a different title and tags so that only people with my dms can access it.

the website will die because active creativity stimulates activity

I am a new kind of denpa-tuber where instead of watching my videos on YouTube you will have to close your eyes and picture my videos in your head. Please don’t forget to like and subscribe and hit that notification bell so that I can enter your mind whenever I feel like it.

Acting like DenpaTube is dead because Osaka quit is silly. There are enough people with a passion for Denpa Vlogs to keep the e-"movement" alive -- many of which are quite talented and interesting!
Here are some cool (neo-)Denpatubers who still upload after the Denpa Mass Suicide that I'm aware of; feel free to reply with other channels you like, or even with shilling your own neo-Denpa channel.

Denpa/electromagnetism
I looked this up and got it translated to 'radio waves', which is pretty cool.
Anyone else notice how weird the sugested videos are on this YT page? I'm getting generic news & entertainment, epstien lists, law & lawyers, spy & paranoia and .. crow behaviours? i don't know, maybe I'm seeing what I want to see. Bare bones YT algorithm kicks up some odd things from time to time.

hate to opposite of love
I'm sorry to have been patronising the other week - I can tell you the answer if you like. The answer is FEAR. You'll start to notice it more often now; how when feeling love you're open and inviting of experience, while in fear you're closed off and rejecting - they're both centered in your heart.
Lots of negative and destructive emotions are borne of [spoilerfear[/spoiler] - it will kill more than its host body. This has never been a secret, only obscure and simple enough that many people don't notice it.

Who would you nominate from the current options?

another question is "what frequency and length of material per month or week would be required to be required of a 'core denpatuber'?"
or is it more of a "quality" distinction?

What I mean to say is that I'm leaving thish video on repeat all night, probably hear 3 runs of it before I get tired of hearing the laptop fan.
